It is no secret that Real Madrid are keeping an eye out for left-backs in the market. The club considers it an area worth fortifying ahead of next season, with a shortage of world-class quality present.

Alphonso Davies has been incessantly linked as Bayern Munich are not in favour of obliging to the Canadian’s wage demands.

However, Los Blancos do not rule out the return of one of their homegrown products now spreading his wings with Girona, Miguel Gutierrez.

Madrid could enter a swap exchange

Indeed, according to Carrusel Deportivo, if Real Madrid decides to bring back Miguel Gutierrez, they could offer a swap operation involving Castilla’s Mario Martin, as Girona manager Michel Sanchez is an admirer of the player.

While Gutierrez maintains a €40 million release clause, the Merengues can sign him for just €8 million.

Real Madrid opted to sell only 50% of the left-back’s sports rights to Girona at the time of his exit, with both teams having an equal share. And if Mario Martin enters the operation, the sum may be lowered even further.

Born in 2004, Martin plies his trade in midfield for Real Madrid Castilla, and his skillset appeals to Michel, who has formed an immensely talented squad, recognized with great identification of talent.

The 19-year-old midfielder has been in and around the first-team setup at times but has not seen a lot of minutes.

However, time will tell whether Real Madrid are in favour of selling one of their jewels from the academy, with Gutierrez’s price not likely to be a huge hurdle in the first place.

As time passes, though, the left-back continues to make a strong case for himself and was recently named the official man of the match against Barcelona, beating the Blaugranes by a score of 4-2.

Real Madrid will sign off on their successful La Liga campaign today with a fixture against Real Betis at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The game, being seen as a final preparation for the UEFA Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund, sees manager Carlo Ancelotti field his strongest possible lineup.

All eyes will obviously be on the retiring Toni Kroos, who bids goodbye to the Bernabeu in what will be his final home game as a Real Madrid player.

The German international starts in the centre of the park alongside Federico Valverde, while Eduardo Camavinga slots in as the No. 6.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid captain, Nacho Fernandez, also starts in what could be his last game at the Bernabeu as well.

Nacho pairs up with Antonio Rudiger in defence, flanked by the full-back pairing of Dani Carvajal and Ferland Mendy. Thibaut Courtois starts in goal ahead of Andriy Lunin and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Up front, Vinicius Jr. starts in attack, partnering up with Rodrygo Goes. Top scorer Jude Bellingham occupies the attacking midfield role for Real Madrid.
