There has been a lot of buzz surrounding Real Madrid youngsters coming through the ranks like Sergio Arribas, Nico Paz, and Alvaro Rodriguez, all of whom are already knocking on the doors of first-team football at the Santiago Bernabeu.

At the same time, another member of Raul Gonzalez’s Real Madrid Castilla outfit that seems to be primed for senior football is captain and midfielder Carlos Dotor.

The 22-year-old is the leader on and off the pitch for RM Castilla and is seen as an extension of his manager, Raul, on the field. As such, according to journalist Rodra P, Dotor has emerged as a transfer target for several La Liga clubs heading into the summer.

Dotor has been at Real Madrid for close to eight years now, having joined the club’s academy from Rayo Majodahonda back in 2015.

The midfielder’s growth through the ranks has not been rapid like those of Nico Paz or Alvaro Rodriguez, but he has shown that he knows what it takes to be a Real Madrid player.

In the ongoing campaign, Dotor has managed nine goals and two assists from 22 league appearances for Castilla, helping them push for promotion to La Liga 2.

The 22-year-old is a modern-day midfielder who packs a punch on the field and has goals in his game. As such, several first-division teams in Spain have taken an interest in the Spaniard heading into the summer transfer window.

Dotor was a target for some La Liga clubs last summer as well, but opted to continue at Castilla, where he has further progressed this season.

But given the competition in the midfield unit of the Real Madrid first team, an immediate progression looks unlikely. Los Blancos are hoping that the midfielder will stay with Castilla next season, especially if they are promoted to La Liga 2.

However, sooner rather than later, Dotor will be playing first-division football. Whether it is with Real Madrid or a different club, only time will tell.

Real Madrid have officially announced that winger Marco Asensio will be leaving the club as a free agent at the end of the season. The Spaniard was between a contract extension and departure for a very long time, and eventually decided it was best for him to leave.

Asensio joined Madrid eight years ago, as a 20-year-old, and was loaned out to Espanyol during his first season in the top flight, where he scored four goals and gave ten assists across 34 appearances.

He has since been a key member of Real Madrid’s team, often dropping in and out of starting lineups, though. During his time at the Santiago Bernabeu, Asensio has won three UEFA Champions Leagues, four FIFA Club World Cups, three La Ligas, and three European Super Cups.

“Real Madrid fans will never forget their path and their exemplary behaviors during all this time. Madrid is, and will always be, his home,” the farewell announcement said.

Now, rumours suggest that Asensio will heading to Paris to join PSG on a Bosman move.
