Real Madrid’s recent 2-1 win against Real Sociedad was a hard-fought victory, to say the very least. However the triumph may seem, it etched the name of manager Carlo Ancelotti in the history books of this illustrious club.

That win at Santiago Bernabeu propelled him into the second position among the club’s most successful coaches.

This historic triumph marked Ancelotti’s 173rd win at the helm of the iconic Spanish club, eclipsing the impressive record of the legendary Zinedine Zidane, who had amassed 172 wins during his tenure.

“Yesterday was a happy day for a new and important victory and for reaching 173 victories as coach of the best club in the world. Madrid pride. THANK YOU ALL,” the manager wrote on his social media account after the win.

Nevertheless, Ancelotti still finds himself chasing the formidable shadow of Miguel Munoz, who holds an astounding 357 victories as the all-time leader.

Two stints with Real Madrid

Ancelotti’s first stint with Real Madrid began in 2013 when he arrived from Paris Saint-Germain, replacing Jose Mourinho.

In his first two seasons, the manager led Madrid to one UEFA Champions League triumph – the long-awaited La Decima, and one Copa del Rey victory.

In 2015, he moved to Bayern Munich, and after brief stints with Napoli and Everton, the Italian returned to the Spanish capital in 2021.

It is safe to say that his two remarkable stages have been nothing short of illustrious.

In La Liga, Ancelotti has orchestrated 112 triumphant encounters, while in the coveted Champions League, he has steered the team to victory on 36 occasions. His prowess extended to the domestic front, with 17 Copa del Rey victories.

On the global stage, Ancelotti has managed the team in four Club World Cup games and twice in the UEFA Super Cup as well. The Spanish Super Cup also graced his presence, with two games overseen.

This unparalleled success translates into an astonishing tally of 10 trophies that Ancelotti has delivered to the Merengues and among these accolades are two Champions League trophies.

Additionally, Ancelotti has added two Club World Cup titles with Real Madrid, emphasizing his dominance on the global stage.

The European Super Cup has also witnessed Ancelotti’s mastery as he secured the trophy twice. The Copa del Rey witnessed two memorable victories, with a La Liga title and a Spanish Super Cup rounding off his extensive haul of silverware.

Aurelien Tchouameni has had an exciting start to his career at Real Madrid. Since joining the club for almost €80 million last summer, the young Frenchman has now become a pivotal figure in Real Madrid’s midfield unit.

However, prior to his move to Santiago Bernabeu, the midfielder was closely linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

In a recent interview, Tchouameni opened up on his links to PSG but revealed his decision to join Real Madrid.

Talking about speculations linking him to PSG, Tchouameni said (h/t Madrid Zone), “PSG? Frankly, I thought about it. It’s a very big European club, we want the French clubs to succeed.”

“But honestly, when Real Madrid calls you, it’s very complicated to say no,” Tchouameni added.

The midfielder was linked with a move to PSG during his time at AS Monaco. Les Parisiens wanted to sign the youngster as part of their plans to reinforce the midfield unit.

Tchouameni, though, ended up opting for a move to Real Madrid, which turned out to be a prudent decision from the midfielder’s end.

Tchouameni’s career at Real Madrid

Aurelien Tchouameni made a total of 50 competitive appearances during his maiden season at Real Madrid.

Although the Frenchman was not entirely a first-team regular in Carlo Ancelotti’s setup, his stature in the team is expected to grow in the coming years.

Especially as Toni Kroos and Luka Modric move on at the end of the season, there is scope for Tchouameni to become a first-team regular in the Real Madrid midfield in the years to come.

The former AS Monaco starlet has already played a crucial role in the starting eleven so far this season and it is only going to continue as the season progresses.
