Last night turned out to be a memorable occasion for Arda Guler as he scored his first-ever goal for Real Madrid in the 4-0 win over Celta Vigo.

Coming on as a late substitute, with the scoreline at 3-0, the 19-year-old, who has been starved for minutes this season, showed great movement, skill, and composure to find the back of the net in stoppage time and enjoy his moment under the spotlight.

It has been a difficult season for Guler, for he struggled with injuries in the first half of the season and has hardly played in the second half despite being fit.

It had even sparked rumours of a departure, potentially on loan, for the 19-year-old to get regular minutes. But the situation is now likely to change for Guler reportedly does not want to leave in the summer.

Ancelotti promises Guler more minutes

Speaking after the 4-0 win over Celta, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti reaffirmed that he has full confidence in Guler and that the youngster has a future at the club.

The Italian tactician went as far as confirming that the Turkish sensation will receive more minutes moving forward.

“He played very little, just a few minutes, but I was convinced that he could do something. He is showing all his quality. He will have a future here. Nobody thinks he has no future here. He is a great talent,” said Ancelotti.

“He has a great talent that he has shown today. In the future, I’m not saying tomorrow, he’s going to get more minutes.”

The player, despite rumblings of his discontent, appeared to express his gratitude to the manager after the game, whispering “Thank you.”

Guler has the entire dressing room behind him

The celebrations after Guler found the back of the net exemplified the amount of support that the youngster has from the Real Madrid players.

Antonio Rudiger, in particular, was seen celebrating with the 19-year-old with extra passion. The German even appeared to grab the young attacking midfielder and draw a smile on his face as if to indicate that the good times for him had finally arrived.

Meanwhile, the likes of Eduardo Camavinga and Vinicius Jr. were seen celebrating and applauding Guler’s goal from the touchlines after having been taken off.

There have never been doubts about Guler’s talent and quality and now that he has shown what he is capable of, fans will want to see more of the same from the Turkish prodigy.

Speaking in an interview with Sport BILD (h/t AS), Germany legend Michael Ballack has claimed that Bayer Leverkusen sensation Florian Wirtz is ready to play for Real Madrid.

Wirtz is a player that Real Madrid have been closely monitoring for a while now, with the German sensation being seen as a long-term replacement for Toni Kroos, who announced his retirement yesterday.

A move for Wirtz is being planned for the summer of 2025 and Ballack believes that the Bundesliga title winner with Leverkusen is ready for the big move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

“Wirtz is ready for Real Madrid,” said Ballack.

“In terms of football, Wirtz can definitely play for Real Madrid. You can also see it in Jude Bellingham after his move from BVB: when you play with even better players, you become even better,” he added.

Wirtz has a contract with Bayer Leverkusen that runs until the summer of 2027. As things stand, the new German champions have no intentions of selling their prized asset this year.

However, there appears to be an acceptance that the German international will be on the move in 2025.

Other top clubs like Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also understood to be interested, but Real Madrid are likely to beat them in the race should it come down to that next year.

A move for Wirtz, though, could cost in excess of €100 million for Real Madrid should they do indeed decide to proceed with his signing next year.
