Karim Benzema’s departure to Al-Ittihad has led to headaches within the Real Madrid camp as the club rush to find a proper replacement in the market.

However, Benzema is not the only striker Real Madrid must replace this summer. The club are also set to lose Mariano Diaz, who will leave the club as a free agent at the end of the month. Diaz’s exit could leave the club devoid of a secondary striker in the first team.

To that end, Real Madrid have been strongly linked with a move for Joselu. Currently plying his trade with Getafe, Carlo Ancelotti is not opposed to the signing of the former Newcastle United frontman, reports Mario Cortegana.

Joselu, who has also played for clubs like Eintracht Frankfurt and Stoke City in the past, has scored an impressive 16 league goals this past season. His performances have not gone unnoticed, with Real Madrid viewing him as the ideal replacement for Mariano.

With a combined total of over 300 competitive appearances in the Bundesliga, La Liga and the Premier League, Joselu does not lack any experience at the highest level. He is also a product of the Real Madrid academy, thus making him an ideal option for the club.

However, Cortegana adds that even though Ancelotti is not averse to the idea of signing Joselu, it appears the Real Madrid manager is seeking a more high-profile striker to replace Mariano this summer.

Ancelotti’s thoughts hardly come as a surprise, as Real Madrid have recently lost Benzema – their most reliable goalscorer since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Although Los Blancos have targeted Harry Kane and even Randal Kolo Muani, there are no guarantees the new signings will come out all guns blazing from the very first week, as evidenced by the failures of Eden Hazard.

With that in mind, it is likely that Real Madrid will go after one more top-quality forward, even as the club close in on the capture of Joselu.

If Real Madrid is not going to sign a high profile striker should forget about winning the league and continent trophies, it won’t be different from this season,

Aurelien Tchouameni has had an exciting start to his career at Real Madrid. Since joining the club for almost €80 million last summer, the young Frenchman has now become a pivotal figure in Real Madrid’s midfield unit.

However, prior to his move to Santiago Bernabeu, the midfielder was closely linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

In a recent interview, Tchouameni opened up on his links to PSG but revealed his decision to join Real Madrid.

Talking about speculations linking him to PSG, Tchouameni said (h/t Madrid Zone), “PSG? Frankly, I thought about it. It’s a very big European club, we want the French clubs to succeed.”

“But honestly, when Real Madrid calls you, it’s very complicated to say no,” Tchouameni added.

The midfielder was linked with a move to PSG during his time at AS Monaco. Les Parisiens wanted to sign the youngster as part of their plans to reinforce the midfield unit.

Tchouameni, though, ended up opting for a move to Real Madrid, which turned out to be a prudent decision from the midfielder’s end.

Tchouameni’s career at Real Madrid

Aurelien Tchouameni made a total of 50 competitive appearances during his maiden season at Real Madrid.

Although the Frenchman was not entirely a first-team regular in Carlo Ancelotti’s setup, his stature in the team is expected to grow in the coming years.

Especially as Toni Kroos and Luka Modric move on at the end of the season, there is scope for Tchouameni to become a first-team regular in the Real Madrid midfield in the years to come.

The former AS Monaco starlet has already played a crucial role in the starting eleven so far this season and it is only going to continue as the season progresses.
