Bayern Munich contact Real Madrid for €85 million-rated midfielder, Man United also keen

Real Madrid have been a hub of activity in the summer transfer window thus far.
Not only have Los Blancos signed several players, with Arda Guler most recently adding the cherry on top, but quite a few players have also bid the club farewell this summer.
And, as the new campaign nears, another player that has been heavily linked with a move away is midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.
Bayern Munich, for one, have held a long-standing interest in the 23-year-old midfielder, whose current market value stands at €85 million.
Bayern make enquiry for Tchouameni
And now according to German outlet Sport 1 (h/t SPORT), Bayern Munich have acted on their interest in Tchouameni by asking Real Madrid about his availability.
Los Blancos acquired the midfielder for a whopping fee of €80 million plus another €20 million only last year, as he arrived to take over Casemiro’s throne.
While he made a brilliant start to life in Spain, his form declined rapidly during the second half of his debut campaign, leading to him losing his place in the side.

That, coupled with the overbooking of midfielders in the squad, have led to the Frenchman being linked with a move, with Bayern Munich strongly interested.
Bayern’s interest stems from the club’s need for a positionally disciplined defensive midfielder, and manager Thomas Tuchel sees Tchouameni as his preferred option.
The Bavarians would also consider signing him on a loan deal, which Real Madrid would not oppose to, as per the report.
Man United also keen, but Tchouameni likely to stay
Apart from Bayern Munich, Manchester United have also declared an interest in Tchouameni. And the Premier League giants are thinking about making an economic proposition with parameters that are comparable to what Real Madrid paid exactly one year ago.
Despite what the report claims about Real Madrid being tempted to consider the possibility of parting ways with Tchouameni, other, more reliable sources, have reported that the club do not contemplate his departure.
Carlo Ancelotti has total faith in the 23-year-old while his pre-season form has also indicated that the former AS Monaco ace is getting back to his best.

Real Madrid full-back never considered summer exit, would retire at club if given chance

Ferland Mendy finds himself in a difficult situation at Real Madrid. The Frenchman has struggled with injury and fitness woes for a large part of the past year, leading to doubts over his future at the club.
In fact, it had been reported that Los Blancos were considering selling Mendy during the summer transfer window earlier this year itself.
But, such a move did not materialise and the 28-year-old has stayed put at the Santiago Bernabeu although reports suggest that he is likely to be on the move next year.
Mendy would retire at Real Madrid if he could
Despite there having been numerous reports about his future in the summer, The Athletic reports that Mendy did not consider the possibility of an exit at any point.
In fact, the report adds that if given a chance, the 28-year-old defender would retire at Real Madrid.
Mendy’s contract with Los Merengues expires in 2025 and he is understood to be seeking a renewal for a while now, but there has been no move made by the club.
The injuries that the 28-year-old has picked up are understood to be a major deterrent for Real Madrid, which is why they are already looking to reinforce the left-back position with Alphonso Davies next year.
Mendy enjoys Ancelotti’s trust

Despite the non-stop speculations surrounding him, Mendy continues to enjoy the full trust of manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Indeed, as per the report, the Italian tactician has informed the Frenchman that he is the left-back that best fits the defensive requirements needed in the team.
Ancelotti’s decision to bench Fran Garcia in the UEFA Champions League game even though Mendy was unavailable and start David Alaba at left-back was taken as an indicator within the dressing room that the Frenchman remains the first-choice in the position.
So, it remains to be seen how the situation unfolds over the coming months, especially with Ancelotti’s future also uncertain as his contract expires in 2024.
