Alphonso Davies has been on Real Madrid’s wish list for a long time now. The administration in the Valdebebas see the Canadian to be an unmatched option to take over at left-back and provide the team with much-needed attacking power down the flank.

As is the case with any high-profile European transfer, however, Davies’ move to Real Madrid is easier said than done.

Bayern Munich refuse to part ways with their star and are offering him tempting offers to renew his contract.

The big offer

As revealed by MARCA today, the Bavarians’ latest offer to their star defender is worth €10 million per season.

The number is far higher than what the Germans usually offer on renewals, and that only goes on to reaffirm how important he is to their plans.

Real Madrid cannot match that number, leaving Davies with a big question. The youngster must make a choice between money and playing for the prestigious crest, just as Jude Bellingham did in the summer.

Signing for Los Blancos may require a financial compromise but offers a far better sporting project among other perks.

Real Madrid’s priorities

The Spanish outlet adds a group of criteria that Real Madrid have established surrounding Davies’s transfer that they do not wish to break under any circumstance.

The first is about the equality of players in the dressing room to maintain the environment behind the scenes.

Offering a new arrival over €10 million would ruin the dressing room’s sanctity, thus placing the aforementioned limit on wages.

Second, Real Madrid do not wish to sour relations with any club in the process of negotiating any transfers, more so with Bayern Munich.

Any transfer would thus have to stem from a complete agreement with the German outfit and a traditional negotiation over the price tag. Needless to say, that will not be easy to achieve.

Speaking in an interview with Sport BILD (h/t AS), Germany legend Michael Ballack has claimed that Bayer Leverkusen sensation Florian Wirtz is ready to play for Real Madrid.

Wirtz is a player that Real Madrid have been closely monitoring for a while now, with the German sensation being seen as a long-term replacement for Toni Kroos, who announced his retirement yesterday.

A move for Wirtz is being planned for the summer of 2025 and Ballack believes that the Bundesliga title winner with Leverkusen is ready for the big move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

“Wirtz is ready for Real Madrid,” said Ballack.

“In terms of football, Wirtz can definitely play for Real Madrid. You can also see it in Jude Bellingham after his move from BVB: when you play with even better players, you become even better,” he added.

Wirtz has a contract with Bayer Leverkusen that runs until the summer of 2027. As things stand, the new German champions have no intentions of selling their prized asset this year.

However, there appears to be an acceptance that the German international will be on the move in 2025.

Other top clubs like Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also understood to be interested, but Real Madrid are likely to beat them in the race should it come down to that next year.

A move for Wirtz, though, could cost in excess of €100 million for Real Madrid should they do indeed decide to proceed with his signing next year.
