Real Madrid pulled yet another of their incredible comebacks against Atletico Madrid last night in the semifinal of the Spanish Super Cup. Los Rojiblancos were level with Carlo Ancelotti’s men for a large part of the game and even had the lead five minutes ahead of the final whistle.

Yet, as they have done so many times before, Real Madrid shattered Rojiblanco hearts with a late equaliser and a winner in extra time. The final scoreline, 5-3 in Los Blancos’ favour, is flattering on them.

Brahim Diaz spoke to the media after Los Blancos’ stunning win, and he poured out his emotions to the press after the physically and mentally exhausting ordeal.

“I am very happy and this victory tastes very good. We have shown the team and the club that we are: Real Madrid. These moments can only be experienced here. All of us who played gave everything we had.”

“The pace of the match has been intense and then in extra time it cost more. We gave that extra and we came back from behind,” he added on the fight in extra-time.

Speaking about his goal on the night which set the result in stone, the youngster explained why he opted for a long-range shot instead of simply running past the goalkeeper.

“I’m not slow, I saw that Oblak wasn’t in the goal and he’s not used to running and that’s why I won the race. I finished extraordinarily well and I celebrate it the way Madrid is: with passion and until the end. This is a family and the whole club is like that.”

Finally, he was asked to comment on the team’s defensive performance and whether having conceded three goals was a worrying sign.

“I see the defence very well. The defenders have to defend and they do that very well. But if they give us a plus in goals, it is even more appreciated especially in difficult times,” he said.

“I’m happy for them and they are all protagonists, the one who scores the goal, gives the assists and defends,” he added.

Joselu, the scorer of the team’s fourth goal, also spoke to the media and he talked the press through the entire buildup of his match-winning goal.

“I do touch the ball in the fourth goal. I see that Dani (Carvajal) is going to put it to me and on the first contact I hit the ball. Then I don’t know what happened. I don’t know if a defender touched it and then it went in. The ball was going towards the goal and the goal is mine,” he said.

The striker then highlighted the difficulty of playing Atletico Madrid at such a juncture and how the men in white had to dig deep into their resources to salvage the win.

“It was a tough and intense derby. We were surrounded by a lot of Madrid fans and that gave us extra encouragement. There were a lot of goals in the first half and it could have gone either way.

“We were confident until the last moment and we were convincing after the 3-3 draw. In extra time they were fatigued and we were superior,” he added on the differentiating factor.

Commenting on the team’s spirit and energy heading into extra-time after 90 gruelling minutes of football, Joselu said,

“In extra time we were fresher. We dominated 100% of all the minutes of extra time. That’s where it all came down to the wire and the two goals came. We both wanted to win, but we deserved this victory.”

Finally, the veteran gave his two cents on the final that lay ahead and the team’s approach to the same.

“A final is a final. Now we have days to recover because Sunday’s game is going to be very intense.”

English sources: Manchester United has an ‘unbeatable’ offer for Real Madrid striker

According to a recent report from Defensa Central, Manchester United have set their sights on Real Madrid forward Joselu and for that, they are prepared to make a generous offer to lure him, proposing a two-year contract with an impressive salary of €5 million net per year.

Manchester United’s interest in signing Joselu has grown in recent months. His reputation has been on the rise, and United are willing to go all out to secure his signature.

At Real Madrid, the forward’s exceptional performance, particularly his two crucial goals in the European Cup semi-final against Bayern Munich, has made a significant impression.

It is said that this performance highlighted the importance of keeping a strong squad, and Joselu’s contributions have not gone unnoticed.

Real Madrid can sign him

While Joselu is currently committed to Espanyol until June 2024, Real Madrid hold a potential purchase option for him

The cost of this option is relatively low, but it is important to note that Real Madrid’s roster is quite full, with limited space for new players.

Despite this, Joselu’s previous stint in the Premier League has not been forgotten, and Manchester United remains keenly interested in bringing him back to England.

Joselu is an old-school forward who knows what it means to face some of the toughest defences in the world. He understands the challenges and the battles that come with playing at the highest level.

United love Joselu

Even if he is not guaranteed a starting position, his experience and knack for scoring goals make him a valuable addition to any team.

Manchester United see these qualities in Joselu and believes he could be a significant asset to their squad.

In England, there is talk of a lucrative two-year contract on the table for the Galician footballer. This deal would significantly boost Joselu’s salary, offering him €5 million net per year.

This substantial increase in his earnings is a key part of United’s strategy to tempt him away from Real Madrid’s Valdebebas training complex.

Carlo Ancelotti and his staff are very pleased with Joselu’s performance as he has proven to be more than just a team player, but there is a chance that they might still lose him this summer.
