After a 1-1 draw with Manchester City in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinals, Real Madrid will look to get back to winning ways as they take on Getafe on Saturday.

However, as per MARCA, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is poised to make a set of changes to the starting eleven, as he keeps one eye on next week’s second-leg tie against Manchester City, where Los Blancos must secure a win in order to qualify for the final.

The Getafe tie will be inconsequential for Real Madrid, as Barcelona are just one win away from securing the league title, Therefore, coach Ancelotti will introduce a host of changes to the starting eleven.

As per the report, all the regulars such as Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior are likely to be rested. Ancelotti also has plans to introduce the 4-4-2 formation against City, in order to add more solidity to the team.

Nevertheless, for the Getafe tie, the Italian manager is expected to recall Andriy Lunin in between the sticks, at the expense of Thibaut Courtois. He could also fancy starting Jesus Vallejo, who has fallen behind in the pecking order this season.

Other fringe players likely to make an appearance against Getafe are Alvaro Odriozola, Eden Hazard and even Mariano Diaz. Aurelien Tchouamni could start in the middle of the park, which could be an excellent opportunity for the Frenchman to find his form.

Real Madrid’s decision to install a second-tier squad against Getafe will not go down well with some of the other Spanish teams. Indeed, Getafe are currently involved in a relegation fight, having only collected 34 points in the league.

Getafe are in the relegation zone as things stand. But due to the weakened Real Madrid team on the weekend, they would have the opportunity to secure three points, which will not go down well with the likes of Espanyol, Valencia and Real Valladolid.

Speaking to the media, Brazil Football Confederations (CBF) president Ednaldo Rodrigues has claimed that the Selecao have not given up on their pursuit of Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, despite the Italian stating that he will not leave the club.

Brazil have been without a manager since the World Cup in Qatar last year, following which Tite stepped down. The CBF have made Ancelotti their top target and have been pursuing his signing for months but to no avail.

The 63-year-old Italian tactician has, on more than one occasion, made it clear that he will be at Real Madrid next season, with his contract expiring in 2024.

However, CBF president Rodrigues is adamant that Ancelotti’s statements are due to him being cautious as he is under contract at Real Madrid and that the Selecao are not prepared to give up on their quest to appoint him as of yet.

“We made a plan, that ‘Plan A’ is the one you know, Ancelotti, and as they say in the ‘ring’ (boxing), I haven’t thrown in the towel yet,” Rodrigues said (h/t Mundo Deportivo).

“Because of contracts, people are cautious,” he added.

Ancelotti, for his part, has repeatedly stated that he does not intend to leave Real Madrid unless he is forced out of the club.

Despite missing out on the La Liga and the UEFA Champions League titles last season, the club continue to back the veteran Italian and are planning for next season with him in charge.

So, despite Rodrigues’ confidence and perseverance, it is extremely unlikely that Ancelotti will be leaving Real Madrid for Brazil this summer.
