Como eyeing Real Madrid academy duo after recent success
Over the past few years, Real Madrid and Como have entered into an informal, involuntary symbiotic relationship in which both clubs benefit from transfer moves.
With Cesc Fabregas at the helm, the Italian club have shown a deep interest in picking top Real Madrid academy prospects and utilising their undeniable talent to improve their performances.
What the player gets in return is rich first-team experience in the top flight, and Real Madrid maintain tabs on the player to trigger a return via a buyback clause if need be.
Nico Paz and Jacobo Ramon are two notable players who have gone through the aforementioned arrangement so far.
While the former is set to return this summer, the latter has developed well and may stay in Italy for another season.
Scouting once again
As reported by Diario AS in a recent update, Como have informed Real Madrid that they are keeping a close eye on academy talents once more and that they are interested in making a move for some top players in June.
Of the players on the subsidiary side, Jesus Fortea and Daniel Yanez stand out as players Fabregas likes and are thus best placed to make the move in the summer transfer window.
Real Madrid, for their part, highly rate both talents and will hope that their development follows the same arc Nico Paz’s did, for there is no denying that he has become worthy of a starting spot in the first team in just over two years.
Who are Fortea and Yanez?
Fortea is the more widely known of the two young players and is a talented teenage right-back whom Real Madrid swooped from Atletico Madrid’s academy.
He has largely been seen as a potential long-term right-back option, and with Dani Carvajal no longer at the club, it will be interesting to see if Real Madrid consider him an option to serve as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s backup next season or allow him to join Como.
Yanez, meanwhile, is a classic inverted winger who starts on the right flank but possesses a dangerous ability to cut onto his left foot and drift centrally to create danger.
His explosiveness and willingness to take risks make him a special talent, and he too has some chances to stake a claim for a first-team role given that Real Madrid have no legitimate right-back option in the squad.
Real Madrid are back in action tomorrow in La Liga as they take on Elche at Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero on Matchday 6.
The Merengues go into the game on the back of a solid 4-1 win over Rayo Vallecano at the Santiago Bernabeu and will be eager to build on that, especially with the Madrid derby coming up later in the week.
Ahead of the trip to Elche, Jose Mourinho has announced the squad list of players that will be at his disposal for the game tomorrow night.
There are no new returns to the squad as Real Madrid continue to be without Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy, and Rodrygo Goes for the game.
Mourinho could look to make changes to his starting lineup, keeping an eye on the derby at the weekend, which could potentially open the doors for someone like Aurelien Tchouameni to start, having been eased back into the thick of things after return from injury.
There could be some rotations in defence as well, with the likes of Antonio Rudiger and Trent Alexander-Arnold hoping to get some action on the pitch.
It remains to be seen if Yan Diomande starts another game after featuring from the get-go against Rayo at the weekend, especially considering that Arda Guler has been a key player for Mourinho’s team.
Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr., and Jude Bellingham have started all matches so far and it will be interesting to see if one or all of them are given a break with an eye on the derby.
