Real Madrid are up for their biggest domestic challenge yet on Sunday as they take on Atletico Madrid away from home.

Los Blancos have struggled on the road this season, and heading into a venue where they have struggled in recent years does not make the challenge any easier.

Jose Mourinho and Co., however, will be keen on making the most of the opportunity to announce their names as strong contenders on all fronts, for a convincing win in the derby will be a massive statement.

Dumfries, Bellingham in, Diomande out

Ahead of the clash, Jose Mourinho has dropped his confirmed XI and there are several changes from the lineup that started against Elche.

Thibaut Courtois retains his place in goal while the backline is largely unchanged with Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konate and Dean Huijsen all starting.

The big change, however, is that Trent Alexander-Arnold has been benched and Denzel Dumfries has been handed the start.

In midfield the double pivot of Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni start once more and there are big changes in attack.

Bellingham, who was rested in the previous game, returns as the attacking midfielder while Yan Diomande, who started on the right, is benched. Instead, Arda Guler has earned the start on the right.

Vinicius Jr. and Kylian Mbappe complete the lineup on the night, making it Real Madridโ€™s Gala XI with all the top performers and big names starting.

Kylian Mbappe marked his 100th UEFA Champions League appearance with a goal against AS Roma, reaching another major milestone in a competition he has dominated throughout his career.

As such, the Real Madrid forward scored his 72nd Champions League goal on Wednesday, moving past club legend Raul Gonzalez on the competitionโ€™s all-time scoring list and into fifth place.ย

Mbappe surpasses Messi and Raulย

Mbappe reached 100 Champions League appearances against Roma and marked the occasion with a goal.ย

At 27 years and 298 days, he became the youngest player to reach that landmark, surpassing Lionel Messiโ€™s previous record of 28 years and 84 days.

As such, Mbappeโ€™s 72 Champions League goals have come across three clubs: six for Monaco, 42 for Paris Saint-Germain and 24 for Real Madrid.

Only Messi and Lewandowski outscored Mbappe

Mbappeโ€™s record becomes even more impressive when measured against other top Champions League forwards during their first 100 appearances.

Robert Lewandowski scored 81 goals in his first 100 matches, while Messi registered 77. Mbappeโ€™s 72 goals place him behind those two players, but ahead of numerous other legendary attackers.

Cristiano Ronaldo remains the Champions League benchmark

Despite moving into fifth place, Mbappe still has a substantial gap to close before reaching the top of the all-time scoring rankings.

Karim Benzema sits ahead of him with 90 goals, followed by Lewandowski on 109 and Messi on 129. Cristiano Ronaldo leads the standings with 140 Champions League goals.

Mbappeโ€™s 72 strikes leave him 18 behind Benzema, meaning the next target in his pursuit of the all-time greats is within reach if he maintains his scoring rate.

Understandably, Ronaldoโ€™s 141 goals remain the benchmark, leaving Mbappe 68 goals short of the record.ย

The gap is considerable, but the Frenchman has already demonstrated the scoring consistency needed to climb the rankings, and it wonโ€™t be a surprise if he breaks his idolโ€™s record.
