Real Madrid’s priority in the transfer market has seen a steep turn of events. With Kylian Mbappe’s case moving at a turtle’s speed, Los Blancos are actively exploring other avenues. Arda Guler is one young talent who has caught Florentino Perez’s eyes.

The Turkish international appears set to take the next big step in his career after a successful spell at Fenerbahce. Real Madrid feature as one of the top options on his table, but interest from Barcelona and AC Milan has quickly caught up.

According to reports from Fabrizio Romano, Guler prioritises playing in La Liga over other top European leagues. This narrows down the race to the two big fish in Spain – Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The youngster is yet to make a final call on his future. It is still uncertain whether he will make a move this summer or in the next, given that Fenerbahce wish for him to continue for one more season. Guler and his entourage are closely studying the options at his doorstep and continue to converse with all interested parties.

Earlier this week, Barcelona sent their representatives to Turkey so as to lure the player to Catalonia, and reports go as far as to state that the Blaugranas have already made an official offer.

It is thus Real Madrid’s turn to throw the dice, and the Merengues have an intriguing plan up their sleeve. The board are expected to send Emilio Butragueño and Roberto Carlos, two legends of the club, to Turkey to convince Guler.

The youngster’s release clause stands at a mere €17.5 million, and the finances are not expected to cause any roadblocks.

Yet, it remains to be seen if Carlo Ancelotti can provide him with a first-team place next season or has him play for the Castilla side, while the possibility of loaning him back to Fenerbahce is also on the agenda.

Either way, with Barcelona already making moves, Real Madrid need to act quickly if they wish to beat their bitter rivals to Guler’s signing.

Aurelien Tchouameni has had an exciting start to his career at Real Madrid. Since joining the club for almost €80 million last summer, the young Frenchman has now become a pivotal figure in Real Madrid’s midfield unit.

However, prior to his move to Santiago Bernabeu, the midfielder was closely linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

In a recent interview, Tchouameni opened up on his links to PSG but revealed his decision to join Real Madrid.

Talking about speculations linking him to PSG, Tchouameni said (h/t Madrid Zone), “PSG? Frankly, I thought about it. It’s a very big European club, we want the French clubs to succeed.”

“But honestly, when Real Madrid calls you, it’s very complicated to say no,” Tchouameni added.

The midfielder was linked with a move to PSG during his time at AS Monaco. Les Parisiens wanted to sign the youngster as part of their plans to reinforce the midfield unit.

Tchouameni, though, ended up opting for a move to Real Madrid, which turned out to be a prudent decision from the midfielder’s end.

Tchouameni’s career at Real Madrid

Aurelien Tchouameni made a total of 50 competitive appearances during his maiden season at Real Madrid.

Although the Frenchman was not entirely a first-team regular in Carlo Ancelotti’s setup, his stature in the team is expected to grow in the coming years.

Especially as Toni Kroos and Luka Modric move on at the end of the season, there is scope for Tchouameni to become a first-team regular in the Real Madrid midfield in the years to come.

The former AS Monaco starlet has already played a crucial role in the starting eleven so far this season and it is only going to continue as the season progresses.
