AC Milan star Rafael Leao has rightfully earned the status as one of Europe’s best left-wingers.

Leao helped the Rossoneri win the 2021/22 Serie A in his third season there, ending the team’s 11-year league title drought. After an incredible season that saw them win the title, he was also named the Serie A Best Player.

The  €90 million-rated Portuguese is thus one of Europe’s hot commodities and has been linked with Real Madrid in the past, owing to the club’s desire to constantly recruit the very best.

Leao’s dream team

In an interview with GianlucaDiMarzio.com, Leao chose his ideal XI as he formulated a lineup in a 4-3-3 formation that consisted of a fair few Real Madrid stars, hinting at his fascination for the club.

Indeed, the Portuguese international opted for two Real Madrid midfielders, Jude Bellingham and Luka Modric, with Kevin De Bruyne as their accomplice in the centre of the park.

Meanwhile, in attack, another Madrid star made an entry, as Leao berthed Vinicius Jr. on the left-hand side, while he placed himself and Real Madrid target Kylian Mbappe in the remaining two forward positions.

As for the rest of the team, Leao chose AC Milan teammate Mike Maignan to guard the sticks.

Diverting the focus to the defence, he stacked the back line with some big hitters. Fielding Barcelona’s Joao Cancelo as the right-back and another club teammate at left-back, Theo Hernandez, Leao ensured offensive poise out wide.

In the heart of defense, he formed the center-back pairing between the battle-hardened Thiago Silva and Manchester City’s Ruben Dias.

The possibility of him one day donning the Real Madrid jersey cannot be ruled out if he continues to grow as a footballer, especially with the attacker placing three Real Madrid players in his dream team.

Real Madrid are just days away from their highly anticipated Champions League final showdown against Borussia Dortmund.

Once the final has been played, planning for the summer transfer window will be in full swing, with the topic of arrivals and departures likely to be discussed.

One of the players facing an uncertain future is Nacho Fernandez. The Real Madrid captain has yet to disclose his future ambitions, despite nearing the end of his contract.

Nacho opens up about future

While he previously claimed that he had already made his decision, a shift in tone can be observed now, with Nacho asserting that he will soon sit with the club and his family to evaluate the best course of action

For now, the 34-year-old remains focused on the Champions League final and does not wish to draw any unnecessary attention.

“Future? The focus is on the final now. After that, I will sit with the club, Ancelotti and my family and I’ll decide what’s the best thing for me,” he told El Chiringuito.

Fernandez acknowledges the fans’ support

Additionally, the veteran centre-back claimed that he does need a grand farewell to know how much the Madrid faithful appreciate him.

“That love the fans have for Toni is the same they have for me. I don’t need a farewell to know the fans love me,” he reflected.

Nacho has devoted his entire career to Real Madrid, rising through the ranks from the youth academy and spending over two decades with the Merengues.

However, he has alluded to the possibility of perhaps donning the colours of a different jersey.

“Sometimes the circumstances are not right to be a ‘one club man’,” he cryptically claimed.
