What Kylian Mbappe has achieved at the young age of 25 is unbelievable. Not only has the youngster conquered the World Cup, and Ligue 1 and established himself as one of the elite players in the sport but has also become a national hero in France.

News of Mbappe’s departure from Paris-Saint Germain, thus, has created a ruckus in his nation. Such is the stature of the player that he was invited to the Elysèe for a dinner alongside French President Emmanuel Macron, the Emir of Qatar and other high-profile dignitaries.

Last Supper?

The dinner meeting between the high-profile individuals was speculated to be an attempt to keep Mbappe in France, for his departure will have a significant impact on the country’s premier football league – Ligue 1.

According to reports from RMC Sport, however, the meeting does not appear to have gone that way. The French outlet reveals that the Emir of Qatar, the owner of PSG, is already aware of the player’s decision. In fact, he wished Mbappe good luck during the dinner meeting last night as captured by cameras.

Surprisingly, French president Marcon has an interesting selection of words for the to-be Real Madrid sensation too, as he said, “You will still create trouble for us.”

Nothing is closed

For Mbappe to attend such a high-profile event and not be quizzed directly about his future was close to impossible. Needless to say, he could not evade the persuasive journalists who pestered him for a statement regarding his future.

The youngster simply admitted that nothing was completed, implying that he had not reached a complete agreement with any club including Real Madrid.

While this is contradictory to statements in the Spanish media, it could well be a way of keeping the deal low-key until the pre-decided time for announcement arrives.

Speaking in an interview with Sport BILD (h/t AS), Germany legend Michael Ballack has claimed that Bayer Leverkusen sensation Florian Wirtz is ready to play for Real Madrid.

Wirtz is a player that Real Madrid have been closely monitoring for a while now, with the German sensation being seen as a long-term replacement for Toni Kroos, who announced his retirement yesterday.

A move for Wirtz is being planned for the summer of 2025 and Ballack believes that the Bundesliga title winner with Leverkusen is ready for the big move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

“Wirtz is ready for Real Madrid,” said Ballack.

“In terms of football, Wirtz can definitely play for Real Madrid. You can also see it in Jude Bellingham after his move from BVB: when you play with even better players, you become even better,” he added.

Wirtz has a contract with Bayer Leverkusen that runs until the summer of 2027. As things stand, the new German champions have no intentions of selling their prized asset this year.

However, there appears to be an acceptance that the German international will be on the move in 2025.

Other top clubs like Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also understood to be interested, but Real Madrid are likely to beat them in the race should it come down to that next year.

A move for Wirtz, though, could cost in excess of €100 million for Real Madrid should they do indeed decide to proceed with his signing next year.
