Ex-Real Madrid boss believes club will sign Mbappe: “Need a striker who guarantees 30 goals”

Speaking to BILD (h/t AS), former Real Madrid player and manager Bernd Schuster has claimed that the club will sign Kylian Mbappe this summer.
Real Madrid have been heavily linked with a move for the PSG superstar but things have not been moving as the forward is reluctant to leave the club this summer and prefers to join the Merengues as a free agent in 2024.
PSG, for their part, are keen on offloading their star attacker as they do not want to lose him for free next summer. As such, they are have given him a deadline of July 31 to make a decision on his future – either accept a departure now or sign a new contract.
Real Madrid, for their part, are waiting on the sidelines to make a move if he becomes available. If not, the Merengues are more than happy to wait for the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner until next year.
However, Schuster reckons that the Spanish capital club will sign Mbappe this summer as they need a striker who can score 30-40 goals per season and cannot rely on Joselu to do so following the departure of Karim Benzema.
“I can’t imagine Joselu becoming Real Madrid’s regular centre-forward. Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema have always scored 30 or 40 goals a season in the last ten years, Joselu won’t do that. That’s why I think Florentino Perez will sign Mbappe this summer,” the former Real Madrid and Barcelona footballer said.
At the same time, the German football icon urged that Mbappe needs to leave PSG as he is wasting his golden years there, saying:
“Mbappe needs to get into one of the top three leagues in Europe as soon as possible, and Real Madrid still need a striker who guarantees at least 30 goals.
“The disappointment at PSG is getting bigger and bigger. He is losing his golden years there. He has to leave PSG now.”
Manager Carlo Ancelotti was asked about Real Madrid’s pursuit of Mbappe on Thursday but chose to remain tight-lipped on the situation. Everything will depend on the superstar and PSG resolving the issue, with Los Blancos ready and waiting to swoop in.

French midfielder admits considering PSG move before Real Madrid called him

Aurelien Tchouameni has had an exciting start to his career at Real Madrid. Since joining the club for almost €80 million last summer, the young Frenchman has now become a pivotal figure in Real Madrid’s midfield unit.
However, prior to his move to Santiago Bernabeu, the midfielder was closely linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
In a recent interview, Tchouameni opened up on his links to PSG but revealed his decision to join Real Madrid.
Aurelien Tchouameni on PSG links
Talking about speculations linking him to PSG, Tchouameni said (h/t Madrid Zone), “PSG? Frankly, I thought about it. It’s a very big European club, we want the French clubs to succeed.”
“But honestly, when Real Madrid calls you, it’s very complicated to say no,” Tchouameni added.

The midfielder was linked with a move to PSG during his time at AS Monaco. Les Parisiens wanted to sign the youngster as part of their plans to reinforce the midfield unit.
Tchouameni, though, ended up opting for a move to Real Madrid, which turned out to be a prudent decision from the midfielder’s end.
Tchouameni’s career at Real Madrid
Aurelien Tchouameni made a total of 50 competitive appearances during his maiden season at Real Madrid.
Although the Frenchman was not entirely a first-team regular in Carlo Ancelotti’s setup, his stature in the team is expected to grow in the coming years.
Especially as Toni Kroos and Luka Modric move on at the end of the season, there is scope for Tchouameni to become a first-team regular in the Real Madrid midfield in the years to come.
The former AS Monaco starlet has already played a crucial role in the starting eleven so far this season and it is only going to continue as the season progresses.
