Former Chelsea icon names Real Madrid veteran his favourite midfielder: “Amazing player”

Real Madrid did not experience much of the Ghanaian superpower Michael Easien at the Santiago Bernabeu. The midfielder signed for the club in August 2012 on a season-long loan from Chelsea and scored two goals in his stint under Jose Mourinho in Madrid.
The 40-year-old was unsurprisingly intrigued last night when two of his former clubs faced each other in the quarterfinal of the UEFA Champions League and was at the Bernabeu to catch the action.
After the game, he took a few minutes out for the press and one of the questions he was asked was about his favourite midfielder.
“The first is surely Luka Modrić. He’s an amazing player and he’s been a friend to me when I was here. His career is incredible,” the former Chelsea icon told Movistar Plus after witnessing the Croatian maestro’s magic live in Madrid.
Modric started Real Madrid’s clash against Chelsea last night and played 81 minutes before coming off for Dani Ceballos. He completed 95% of his attempted passes on the night in addition to providing one key pass and completing three of his four attempted dribbles.
The 37-year-old even came very close to scoring early in the second period when his curling shot went just wide of the goalpost.
Modric has played a part in 25 of the club’s 28 La Liga games so far and has scored four goals and provided three assists in that duration. At 37 years of age, he continues to deliver high-quality performances consistently and shows no signs of slowing down.
Modric is said to have turned down a lucrative contract offer from Saudi Arabia. And it will only be only a matter of time before his continuity for another season at Real Madrid is confirmed.

Real Madrid are considering terminating the contract of €115 million flop – report

Eden Hazard is one of the Real Madrid players who have vowed to stay at Santiago Bernabeu until the end of his contract. His current deal at the club expires in 2024.
Even though the Real Madrid star has been courted by several MLS and even the Saudi Arabian clubs, the forward has shown no desire to leave Bernabeu just yet. He wants to stay at the club even though Los Blancos are ready to sanction his sale this summer.
In the midst of this drama, a fresh report from Alfredo Matilla suggests Real Madrid are now considering terminating the contract of Eden Hazard.
This comes shortly after a report which claimed that a Real Madrid player who is not out of contract this summer, may shockingly leave the club this summer. Ferland Mendy was a potential candidate, but it appears Hazard has not been ruled out either.
The Belgian international has offered very little since joining from Chelsea in 2019 for a record-breaking €115 million fee. His spell at the Bernabeu has been marred by injuries, while the player has also struggled to impress when given the opportunities.
Inside the Real Madrid dressing room, there is both grief and resentment towards Belgian, who has remained steadfast in his decision to stay at the club. He has a good standing in the team due to his professionalism, but the Real Madrid bosses are determined to get rid of him this summer.
Hazard, after all, is the highest-paid player in the squad and his departure could open up a chunk of the space in the salary mass. But it must be noted that Real Madrid would have to spend a fortune to terminate Hazard’s contract.
Hence, it will be interesting to see whether or not Los Blancos end up splashing the cash in order to get Hazard out of their books this coming summer.
