As the first international break of the 2023/24 season arrives, Real Madrid enter into it with the status of being the La Liga leaders.

Los Blancos have won all four of their matches thus far, despite having had to cope with injuries to key players like Thibaut Courtois, Eder Militao, and Vinicius Jr, among others.

So, they will be happy heading into the international break and will be hoping that the players travelling to national team duty return to the club without any injuries.

12 Real Madrid players set to be away

As national teams across the globe get into action over the next week or ten days, Real Madrid will have 11 players away on international duty.

Starting off with the Spanish national team, three Real Madrid stars make the cut in the form of Dani Carvajal, Joselu, and Kepa Arrizabalaga, with there being no space on the roster for the likes of Nacho Fernandez and Fran Garcia.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Andriy Lunin is called up by Ukraine for their UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifiers against England and Italy.

Antonio Rudiger will be away with Germany who play Japan and France in friendly matches while David Alaba will be leading Austria against Moldova (Friendly) and Sweden (Euro Qualifier).

Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga have become reliable members of the French national team and have been called up for matches against the Republic of Ireland and Germany.

In-form man Jude Bellingham is a part of the England squad that will be taking on Ukraine and Scotland, while fellow midfielder Luka Modric will be captaining Croatia against Latvia and Armenia.

Rodrygo will be a part of the Brazil setup who will be playing in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers over the next week. Vinicius Jr had also been called up but has been withdrawn due to injury.

Federico Valverde will be representing Uruguay against Chile and Ecuador in the World Cup qualifying matches as well.

The ones who have not been called up and are fit – Toni Kroos, Lucas Vazquez, Dani Ceballos, Ferland Mendy, Fran Garcia, Nacho, and Brahim Diaz, will return to training under Carlo Ancelotti on Tuesday.

Aurelien Tchouameni has had an exciting start to his career at Real Madrid. Since joining the club for almost €80 million last summer, the young Frenchman has now become a pivotal figure in Real Madrid’s midfield unit.

However, prior to his move to Santiago Bernabeu, the midfielder was closely linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

In a recent interview, Tchouameni opened up on his links to PSG but revealed his decision to join Real Madrid.

Talking about speculations linking him to PSG, Tchouameni said (h/t Madrid Zone), “PSG? Frankly, I thought about it. It’s a very big European club, we want the French clubs to succeed.”

“But honestly, when Real Madrid calls you, it’s very complicated to say no,” Tchouameni added.

The midfielder was linked with a move to PSG during his time at AS Monaco. Les Parisiens wanted to sign the youngster as part of their plans to reinforce the midfield unit.

Tchouameni, though, ended up opting for a move to Real Madrid, which turned out to be a prudent decision from the midfielder’s end.

Tchouameni’s career at Real Madrid

Aurelien Tchouameni made a total of 50 competitive appearances during his maiden season at Real Madrid.

Although the Frenchman was not entirely a first-team regular in Carlo Ancelotti’s setup, his stature in the team is expected to grow in the coming years.

Especially as Toni Kroos and Luka Modric move on at the end of the season, there is scope for Tchouameni to become a first-team regular in the Real Madrid midfield in the years to come.

The former AS Monaco starlet has already played a crucial role in the starting eleven so far this season and it is only going to continue as the season progresses.
