Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and PSG are locked in a battle for Champions League glory, as we reach the final stretch of the campaign.

But the Champions League isn’t just about the trophy, it’s also about the hefty financial reward. In fact, these four clubs, including Real Madrid, are chasing significant financial windfall as they look to book tickets to Wembley on June 1.

How much have Real Madrid earned this season?

Real Madrid, boasting the most Champions League titles, currently sit pretty at €103 million earned in the competition this season, reports Diario AS.

Their semi-final opponents, Bayern Munich, are close behind at nearly €100 million. PSG and Borussia Dortmund trail with around €87 million each.

Reaching the semi-finals has already secured each team €12.5 million. But the real prize awaits the finalists. Just reaching the final earns an additional €15.5 million, and that’s not all.

Winning the final adds another €4.5 million to the pot, along with a coveted spot in the European Super Cup, which comes with a €3.5 million participation fee.

Real Madrid, therefore, stand a chance to add much more to their coffers come the end of the season. That is, of course, provided the team overcomes their most immediate challenge in the form of Bayern Munich.

Looking ahead, the financial stakes will only get higher. The new Champions League format, starting next season, offers an even bigger €18.5 million payout for reaching the final, with the champions taking home a whopping €6.5 million.

That means playing and winning the 2024-2025 final could bring in a staggering €25 million, as opposed to the current payout of €20 million.

Real Madrid ace misses training for third consecutive day ahead of UCL final

As Real Madrid get closer and closer to their final game of the season against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League, they are now sweating over the availability of one of their players.

It has already been confirmed that both David Alaba and Aurelien Tchouameni will miss the finals in London due to injuries.

Other than that, Carlo Ancelotti is likely to have the entirety of his squad available at his disposal, although there could be some concerns surrounding Andriy Lunin.

Lunin not in training for the third day in running

Indeed, Andriy Lunin has not participated in team training today, making it three days in a row heading into the Champions League final, reports Mundo Deportivo.

The Real Madrid goalkeeper is down with a fever that has kept him out of training for three days in a row now.

However, the report does add that despite not being in training for three days now, the Ukrainian international will fly to London and be on the squad list for the finals.

But with reports already suggesting that Thibaut Courtois will be starting in goal against Dortmund, Lunin’s continued absence from training only further strengthens the Belgian’s chances.

Kepa Arrizabalaga, who was absent from training on Tuesday due to personal reasons, is back working with the rest of the squad today. The Spaniard will have no involvement in Saturday’s final though.

Carlo Ancelotti is likely to go with the exact same starting lineup that he named for the Merengues’ final La Liga match against Real Betis.
