How much will Borussia Dortmund earn if Bellingham wins UCL with Real Madrid?

Real Madrid’s efforts this season have culminated in a La Liga win, a Spanish Super Cup, and potentially a historic 15 Champions League titles.

But standing firmly in their way is Borussia Dortmund, whom the Merengues lock horns against in the final on the first of June.

While Dortmund have been punching above their weight for most of the competition, they are not expected to be pushovers in the grand showdown. And their desire to lift their second-ever Champions League trophy will fuel their pursuit.

But interestingly a loss could serve them better than a victory, as they would pocket a greater fee.

Jude Bellingham could still help his former club

Indeed, according to BILD (h/t Mundo Deportivo), if Real Madrid win the Champions League during Bellingham’s six-year term with the club, Dortmund will receive €25 million.

Dortmund stands to gain more from Real Madrid’s victory than UEFA grants the winners since the Champions League gives €20 million to the victor and €15 million to the runner-up.

But winning the Champions League is not the only condition for receiving the bonus. It also takes into consideration other significant aspects like goals scored, Champions League qualification, league victories, and game appearances.

As such, Dortmund’s maximum revenues might be as much as €30.9 million with the additional bonuses included in the transfer deal.

This is in addition to the €103 million Dortmund already received from Bellingham’s transfer to Real Madrid in the summer of last year.

An emotional outing for Bellingham

Jude Bellingham has been flying high in all competitions this season, but the encounter against his former club Borussia Dortmund will certainly be an emotional one.

Still, the Englishman acknowledges their place in the final as merited and he hopes to reunite with old friends.

“It will be nice to see some old friends. I think I’ll turn off the phone and leave the messages for tomorrow,” he remarked.

Real Madrid will be on their way to England this Thursday as they gear up to take on Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday.

The players and the staff will be on a flight to London tomorrow to prepare for the clash at Wembley.

However, according to a report from journalist Arancha Rodriguez, Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin might not travel with the rest of the team tomorrow.

The 25-year-old Ukrainian goalkeeper has not trained for three days in a row after coming down with the flu.

Lunin has overcome the flu, but he still has the virus and there is still a chance he could be contagious.

As such, Real Madrid, aware of the importance of Saturday’s match against Borussia Dortmund, are considering leaving the Ukrainian behind to avoid any possible contagion ahead of the Champions League final.

The goalkeeper will likely not travel with the rest of the expedition to London on Thursday and will fly alone on Saturday to avoid the risk of infection.

On Thursday, Lunin will undergo another check-up and, depending on the viral load, he could even travel on Friday. But it seems impossible for him to travel with his teammates.

It has already been suggested that Lunin would be making way for Thibaut Courtois in the starting lineup against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. The likelihood of that has increased following the events of this week.
