Journalist Jose Felix Diaz is reporting via MARCA that Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is expected to be back in full training on March 27.

Coincidentally, Courtois is set to make his comeback just as all Real Madrid internationals will return to action following their matches with their national teams. The Belgian goalkeeper will join the team in time to make a valuable contribution during the final stages of the season.

For what it is worth, during the pre-match training session against RB Leipzig, Courtois’ exceptional physical prowess and agile goalkeeping movements left everyone in awe.

At this point, Real Madrid are primarily focusing on building his confidence and maintaining a steady rhythm in preparation for his healthy return.

A trip down the memory lane

In August 2023, Courtois’s complaint of knee discomfort during a training session sent shockwaves through the entire Real Madrid hierarchy. The Belgian goalkeeper witnessed his world crumbling in an instant, yet he swiftly recognized that dwelling on regret held no value.

Nearly eight months post-injury, involving a torn cruciate ligament and meniscus, Courtois is poised to reclaim his position and resume training like any other player.

His return is perfectly timed for a potential comeback before the season concludes, though there is no need for urgency. The success lies in the act of returning, and that prospect is on the brink of becoming a concrete reality.

Quick recovery on the horizon

At first, it was believed that Courtois would not play this season due to the extent of his injury. However, thanks to the hard work of the Real Madrid medical team and the player’s determination, he has recovered faster than expected.

The Belgian ace has been training at Valdebebas by gradually increasing the intensity. His knee has responded well, showing that he is ready for the big challenge ahead.

Courtouis’ goal is to forget about the injury he suffered in August and prove that he still belongs among the best players.

Even though he won’t be playing in the UEFA Euro, he is determined to be fully fit for the next season. In fact, he is also open to possibly playing some games before the season ends.

Speaking in an interview with Sport BILD (h/t AS), Germany legend Michael Ballack has claimed that Bayer Leverkusen sensation Florian Wirtz is ready to play for Real Madrid.

Wirtz is a player that Real Madrid have been closely monitoring for a while now, with the German sensation being seen as a long-term replacement for Toni Kroos, who announced his retirement yesterday.

A move for Wirtz is being planned for the summer of 2025 and Ballack believes that the Bundesliga title winner with Leverkusen is ready for the big move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

“Wirtz is ready for Real Madrid,” said Ballack.

“In terms of football, Wirtz can definitely play for Real Madrid. You can also see it in Jude Bellingham after his move from BVB: when you play with even better players, you become even better,” he added.

Wirtz has a contract with Bayer Leverkusen that runs until the summer of 2027. As things stand, the new German champions have no intentions of selling their prized asset this year.

However, there appears to be an acceptance that the German international will be on the move in 2025.

Other top clubs like Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also understood to be interested, but Real Madrid are likely to beat them in the race should it come down to that next year.

A move for Wirtz, though, could cost in excess of €100 million for Real Madrid should they do indeed decide to proceed with his signing next year.
