Injury update: Real Madrid duo expected to return for Getafe encounter

While Real Madrid may have made a perfect start to the 2023/24 season, with three wins in three games, they have been hit hard by injuries to several players.
Dani Ceballos and Ferland Mendy have been out of action since pre-season along with new signing Arda Guler.
That was followed by potentially season-ending injuries to both Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao, before Vinicius Jr also picked up an injury this past week against Celta Vigo.
Ceballos, Mendy closing in on a return
As per a report from AS, two of the injured stars, Ceballos and Mendy, are very close to returning to action, likely for the next game against Getafe.
Ceballos picked up an injury in training before Real Madrid left for the pre-season tour of the US and has been working on his rehabilitation ever since.
The midfielder has made significant progress over the past week or so, resuming light training and ball work.

As for Mendy, the French left-back was injured during the pre-season El Clasico against Barcelona and has not played a single minute this season.
But, like Ceballos, he too has resumed training and is expected to be available at Ancelotti’s disposal when the Merengues face Getafe in what will be team’s first home fixture of the new season.
What about the others?
As iterated earlier, Militao and Courtois could be potentially out for the entire season due to their ACL injuries.
As for Guler, the youngster has been making good progress since undergoing surgery, but is still expected to be out for a month or so.
Meanwhile, Vinicius’ situation is understood to be a bit more serious than initially anticipated. A clearer picture of the extent of his injury should emerge today as he is set to undergo scans.

French midfielder admits considering PSG move before Real Madrid called him

Aurelien Tchouameni has had an exciting start to his career at Real Madrid. Since joining the club for almost €80 million last summer, the young Frenchman has now become a pivotal figure in Real Madrid’s midfield unit.
However, prior to his move to Santiago Bernabeu, the midfielder was closely linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
In a recent interview, Tchouameni opened up on his links to PSG but revealed his decision to join Real Madrid.
Aurelien Tchouameni on PSG links
Talking about speculations linking him to PSG, Tchouameni said (h/t Madrid Zone), “PSG? Frankly, I thought about it. It’s a very big European club, we want the French clubs to succeed.”
“But honestly, when Real Madrid calls you, it’s very complicated to say no,” Tchouameni added.

The midfielder was linked with a move to PSG during his time at AS Monaco. Les Parisiens wanted to sign the youngster as part of their plans to reinforce the midfield unit.
Tchouameni, though, ended up opting for a move to Real Madrid, which turned out to be a prudent decision from the midfielder’s end.
Tchouameni’s career at Real Madrid
Aurelien Tchouameni made a total of 50 competitive appearances during his maiden season at Real Madrid.
Although the Frenchman was not entirely a first-team regular in Carlo Ancelotti’s setup, his stature in the team is expected to grow in the coming years.
Especially as Toni Kroos and Luka Modric move on at the end of the season, there is scope for Tchouameni to become a first-team regular in the Real Madrid midfield in the years to come.
The former AS Monaco starlet has already played a crucial role in the starting eleven so far this season and it is only going to continue as the season progresses.
