Injury update: Real Madrid midfielder and full-back duo close to return – report

Injuries have marred Real Madrid’s 2023-24 campaign so far. In just two weeks, the men in white find themselves without the services of five stars and are in a spot of bother.
Yet, they have not allowed the squad situation to affect the team morale. Two games into the season, Los Blancos are one of only two teams with a 100% win record and sit on top of the league standings.
Needless to say, the men in white will only put up a more formidable face once they recover their injured stars.
Guillermo Rai provides an update on the situations of various injured stars.
No availability against Celta Vigo
According to the Athletic journalist, Dani Ceballos and Ferland Mendy are progressing positively in their recovery.
Both players were injured in preseason but will make their return in the coming games.

Playing against Celta Vigo would be premature and appears ruled out at the moment. However, they could feature in the team’s fourth league game of the season.
The dual ACL tear
The most significant blows to Carlo Ancelotti’s plans came last week when the team lost two key stars to long-term injuries.
At first, Thibaut Courtois ruptured his ACL and was ruled out for the entire season. Just days later, the same story repeated with Eder Militao.
According to the same journalist, both players have completed their surgery successfully. They are currently rehabilitating post-operatively and Ancelotti will hope for their swift return.
Where is Arda Guler?
The Turkish youngster was one of the club’s first players on the sidelines this season as he suffered a meniscus tear in his knee.
Real Madrid opted to go down the conservative route of treatment initially but were forced to take the surgical route out after re-evaluation.
The new signing is also working hard to return soon but is expected to miss over a month of action at least, as per the Athletic report.

French midfielder admits considering PSG move before Real Madrid called him

Aurelien Tchouameni has had an exciting start to his career at Real Madrid. Since joining the club for almost €80 million last summer, the young Frenchman has now become a pivotal figure in Real Madrid’s midfield unit.
However, prior to his move to Santiago Bernabeu, the midfielder was closely linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
In a recent interview, Tchouameni opened up on his links to PSG but revealed his decision to join Real Madrid.
Aurelien Tchouameni on PSG links
Talking about speculations linking him to PSG, Tchouameni said (h/t Madrid Zone), “PSG? Frankly, I thought about it. It’s a very big European club, we want the French clubs to succeed.”
“But honestly, when Real Madrid calls you, it’s very complicated to say no,” Tchouameni added.

The midfielder was linked with a move to PSG during his time at AS Monaco. Les Parisiens wanted to sign the youngster as part of their plans to reinforce the midfield unit.
Tchouameni, though, ended up opting for a move to Real Madrid, which turned out to be a prudent decision from the midfielder’s end.
Tchouameni’s career at Real Madrid
Aurelien Tchouameni made a total of 50 competitive appearances during his maiden season at Real Madrid.
Although the Frenchman was not entirely a first-team regular in Carlo Ancelotti’s setup, his stature in the team is expected to grow in the coming years.
Especially as Toni Kroos and Luka Modric move on at the end of the season, there is scope for Tchouameni to become a first-team regular in the Real Madrid midfield in the years to come.
The former AS Monaco starlet has already played a crucial role in the starting eleven so far this season and it is only going to continue as the season progresses.
