Real Madrid played their game in hand on Thursday night against a tricky opposition in Getafe. Given that the game was away at Coliseum Alfonso Perez, it would require a disciplined and patient approach to break down the opposition’s renowned defence.

In the end, a brace for Joselu sealed the deal for the Merengues, handing them a 2-0 win and three critical points in the title race. They are now undisputed league leaders with a solid two-point cushion over Girona.

Speaking to the media after his special brace against Getafe, Joselu commented on the difficulty of the clash and how the team had to dig deep for the win.

“We knew about the complexity of the match because Getafe is a very physical team and that it was going to make things difficult for us. We saw it in the match of the first round at the Bernabéu.”

“We were convinced that it was a great day to place ourselves as leaders in a postponed game that we had to win. Now very important games are coming and we face them with enthusiasm,” he added.

He then went on to speak on how the men in white made the most of their available chances and pulled through against a quality opposition without much trouble.

“Today’s game we had to work from the beginning because they are strong at home because they have either not lost any game or only one.”

“The team has worked, it was calm and we took advantage of the opportunities we had. We were able to score a few goals and Real Madrid was superior,” he continued.

The veteran striker also gave his two cents on the dynamic in the dressing room and said that the harmony was visible on the field.

“The team is working very well and the 25 of us who are on the squad are plugged in. All of us who are contributing. We have a very healthy and very good team.”

“That is reflected when the coach gives us the opportunity for games like today and we move them forward,” he added.

Moving on to the topic of his brace on the night, Joselu did not hold back on his joy but insisted that the team’s result was more important than the individual laurel.

“I’m happy for the game. I’m happy to score a double at Real Madrid and for the victory. This is synonymous with work and the most important thing for me was to win.”

Elaborating on the same, he broke down both goals and explained how the chances arose in detail, giving full credit to his teammates for the same.

“Lucas gives me an incredible ball in the first goal. In the second, when Vini gives it to me, the centre-back tries to reach my position, then I make a check and cross him.”

Finally, Joselu took the opportunity to reflect on how honoured he felt to be part of one of football’s biggest institutions.

“The simple fact of being here is a dream and also being able to share this with my colleagues and with all the people around us and help us. I’m proud of my career to be able to finish here.”

Lucas Vazquez was the next player to speak to the media after the win on the night, and he began by commending his team for the well-orchestrated effort.

“We know that if we won we would become leaders and that it was going to be complicated, but today was their first defeat in this stadium. We have left convinced and we have worked as a group for the 90 minutes.”

Looking ahead towards the clashes against Atletico Madrid and Girona, the defender said,

“We have a very regular line in La Liga and we are in a very good dynamic. We have to keep it up since we have two important weeks ahead of us.”

Vazquez also reflected on the team’s defensive situation, weighed up the setbacks they were facing and lauded his teammates for stepping up in the face of adversity.

“Defensively, the whole team is at a great level. We have defended very well, run and won duels. The squad is very good and we are all showing that we give up if we are given the opportunity. That makes the group better,” he added.

Finally, the right-back reflected on his assist for Joselu’s goal on the night and praised the Spanish striker for their understanding on the field.

“It’s easy to understand with Joselu. In the area, he makes the difference. We’ve been playing together for many years and you can see it on the field.”

According to a recent report from Defensa Central, Manchester United have set their sights on Real Madrid forward Joselu and for that, they are prepared to make a generous offer to lure him, proposing a two-year contract with an impressive salary of €5 million net per year.

Manchester United’s interest in signing Joselu has grown in recent months. His reputation has been on the rise, and United are willing to go all out to secure his signature.

At Real Madrid, the forward’s exceptional performance, particularly his two crucial goals in the European Cup semi-final against Bayern Munich, has made a significant impression.

It is said that this performance highlighted the importance of keeping a strong squad, and Joselu’s contributions have not gone unnoticed.

Real Madrid can sign him

While Joselu is currently committed to Espanyol until June 2024, Real Madrid hold a potential purchase option for him

The cost of this option is relatively low, but it is important to note that Real Madrid’s roster is quite full, with limited space for new players.

Despite this, Joselu’s previous stint in the Premier League has not been forgotten, and Manchester United remains keenly interested in bringing him back to England.

Joselu is an old-school forward who knows what it means to face some of the toughest defences in the world. He understands the challenges and the battles that come with playing at the highest level.

United love Joselu

Even if he is not guaranteed a starting position, his experience and knack for scoring goals make him a valuable addition to any team.

Manchester United see these qualities in Joselu and believes he could be a significant asset to their squad.

In England, there is talk of a lucrative two-year contract on the table for the Galician footballer. This deal would significantly boost Joselu’s salary, offering him €5 million net per year.

This substantial increase in his earnings is a key part of United’s strategy to tempt him away from Real Madrid’s Valdebebas training complex.

Carlo Ancelotti and his staff are very pleased with Joselu’s performance as he has proven to be more than just a team player, but there is a chance that they might still lose him this summer.
