Following his red card against Getafe on Monday night, Real Madrid starlet Franco Mastantuono has been hit with a two-match suspension by the RFEF Competitions Committee.

The Argentine wonderkid came on as a substitute in the 69th minute against the Azulones but was unable to help his team turn things around.

Instead, he ended up getting dismissed in stoppage time after protesting and lashing out at referee Alejandro Muniz Ruiz.

Two-match ban for Mastantuono

Now, the sanction for Mastantuono after his straight red card against Getafe has now been confirmed.

The Competition Committee has imposed a two-match ban for “attitudes of contempt or disrespect towards referees, directors or sporting authorities, with additional fines in application of Article 52 of the Disciplinary Code (Article 124)”, according to the official resolution.

Real Madrid appealed the red card, but the Committee rejected the club’s arguments and upheld the two-match suspension.

As a result, Mastantuono will now miss Friday night’s La Liga game against Celta Vigo at Balaidos (6 March), as well as the subsequent league clash against Elche at the Santiago Bernabeu on 14 March.

Another appeal rejected

Meanwhile, the Competitions Committee has rejected Real Madrid’s appeal to overturn the the yellow card shown to Aurelien Tchouameni during the 0-1 loss to Getafe.

The French international was cautioned by the referee in the 71st minute of the game for a challenge on Getafe midfielder Mauro Arambarri.

Real Madrid appealed against the yellow card, arguing that Tchouameni had touched the ball first and that the contact with the Getafe player was part of normal play.

The Committee, however, dismissed that appeal as well and maintained the booking, although it does not carry a suspension.

Meanwhile, both Dean Huijsen and Alvaro Carreras were also shown yellow cards during the Getafe clash and will miss Friday’s match against Celta Vigo due to an accumulation of yellow cards.

Real Madrid will be looking to pick up their fifth win of the 2026/27 La Liga season when they take on Elche CF at Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero later tonight.

With 12 points from five games, Los Blancos are currently second in the league table, three points below leaders FC Barcelona.

As such, the Spanish capital club will be eager to get the win and close the gap to the top.

Guler starts, Bellingham rested

Ahead of kickoff, Real Madrid have announced the starting lineup that will take the field against Elche, with Jose Mourinho making some important changes.

For starters, Arda Guler is back in the lineup after appearing as a substitute in the win over Rayo Vallecano.

Interestingly, however, he starts in the attacking midfield role, with Mourinho opting to rest Jude Bellingham, who has started all of Real Madrid’s games so far.

That also means that Yan Diomande retains his place in the team, starting for a second time in a row on the right wing. Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. continue in their respective positions in attack.

Another notable change sees Aurelien Tchouameni make his first start of the season after recovering from injury and making two appearances off the bench.

He replaces Bernardo Silva as Federico Valverde’s partner in the middle of the park.

Meanwhile, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Marc Cucurella come in as full-backs, while Ibrahima Konate and Dean Huijsen slot in at centre-back in front of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
