While the world of football was sent reeling by Kylian Mbappé’s emotional video announcing his departure from PSG, Real Madrid fans were left with a sense of joyous anticipation.

However, in a recent update, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has suggested that the official confirmation of his arrival at the Bernabeu might have to wait a little longer.

When can we expect a confirmation?

Initial plans were to unveil Mbappe as a Los Blancos player once both PSG and Real Madrid had concluded their Champions League campaigns. This approach ensured respect for both clubs while the European trophy chase remained in play.

With Real Madrid now storming into the final on June 1, the official announcement of Mbappe’s signing will likely be postponed until after that momentous occasion.

This slight delay shouldn’t dampen the spirits of Madridistas, however. The club, after all, are in contention for their 15th UCL title when they take on Borussia Dortmund next month.

This update from Fabrizio Romano also corroborates with earlier report in the Spanish media, pointing to the first week of June being the potential date of Mbappe’s announcement.

Mbappe’s video farewell to PSG was a clear indication of his desire for a new challenge, and all signs point towards that challenge being met in the Spanish capital.

The young French superstar has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid, and his admiration for the club and its legends is well documented.

For now, all eyes are on Paris as Real Madrid strives for a record-extending 15th Champions League title.

Once the dust settles on the European finale, the official confirmation of Mbappe’s arrival can truly ignite the celebration at the Bernabeu. The future of Los Blancos is undeniably bright, and Kylian Mbappe’s signature will be the cherry on top of a potentially historic season.

Speaking in an interview with Sport BILD (h/t AS), Germany legend Michael Ballack has claimed that Bayer Leverkusen sensation Florian Wirtz is ready to play for Real Madrid.

Wirtz is a player that Real Madrid have been closely monitoring for a while now, with the German sensation being seen as a long-term replacement for Toni Kroos, who announced his retirement yesterday.

A move for Wirtz is being planned for the summer of 2025 and Ballack believes that the Bundesliga title winner with Leverkusen is ready for the big move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

“Wirtz is ready for Real Madrid,” said Ballack.

“In terms of football, Wirtz can definitely play for Real Madrid. You can also see it in Jude Bellingham after his move from BVB: when you play with even better players, you become even better,” he added.

Wirtz has a contract with Bayer Leverkusen that runs until the summer of 2027. As things stand, the new German champions have no intentions of selling their prized asset this year.

However, there appears to be an acceptance that the German international will be on the move in 2025.

Other top clubs like Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also understood to be interested, but Real Madrid are likely to beat them in the race should it come down to that next year.

A move for Wirtz, though, could cost in excess of €100 million for Real Madrid should they do indeed decide to proceed with his signing next year.
