It is only a matter of time before Kylian Mbappe will be presented as a Real Madrid player. The Frenchman will be leaving PSG at the end of the season when his contract expires and all signs point towards a move to the Spanish capital.

Multiple reliable sources have already confirmed that Mbappe will indeed be plying his trade at Real Madrid next season, with an announcement likely to take place after the UEFA Champions League final.

Where will Mbappe play?

Mbappe has made a name for himself as a deadly forward who can tear apart defences from the left flank. However, Vinicius Jr. already occupies that position at Real Madrid.

As such, there have been questions about where the French superstar would play if he does indeed end up at the club as expected.

Now, AS has brought forward an update on the situation, stating that it has already been decided that Mbappe will play as the No. 9, the centre-forward, for Real Madrid when he arrives.

The French superstar is willing to accept the role of playing as a central striker for most of the games with Los Blancos and is in fact seeing it as a challenge to succeed in that role.

The explanation Kylian has given to his trusted people is simple. If he plays as a ‘9’ in a team with Vinicius, Rodrygo, Jude Bellingham and Brahim Diaz as ball feeders in the box, it will be very easy for him to increase his goal tally.

“Kylian knows that being at Madrid will make it much easier for him to win the Champions League and the Ballon d’Or. And if he also wins the Golden Boot, all the better for him. Playing as a nine at Real Madrid, he can score a lot of goals,” sources close to Mbappe told AS.

Speaking in an interview with Vamos (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Spain manager Luis de la Fuente has acknowledged that Real Madrid ace Jude Bellingham is the No. 1 footballer in the world currently.

Bellingham has enjoyed a spectacular debut season at Real Madrid and has been one of their chief protagonists as the Merengues won the La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup titles and made it to the UCL finals.

Even though his form has somewhat dipped in the latter stages of the season, the England international remains integral to Carlo Ancelotti’s plans and one of Los Blancos’ most important players.

And Spain manager Luis de la Fuente expressed his admiration for Bellingham, saying:

“He is a player who is doing particularly well. It’s a subjective view, but I like Bellingham’s style a lot, I like that type of player, powerful….”

When asked if Bellingham is the No. 1 player in the world at the moment, De la Fuente replied in the affirmative, as he said: “I think so.”

Bellingham has played 40 times in all competitions for Real Madrid this season, racking up a total of 23 goals and 12 assists in the process.

The 20-year-old’s exploits with Los Blancos in his debut campaign have put him in contention for the Ballon d’Or this year.

A strong performance in the finals of the UEFA Champions League next month and a solid run with England at the UEFA Euro 2024 could further his chances of winning the Golden Ball, although his teammate Vinicius Jr. is also an equally strong contender.
