According to a recent report from Le Parisien, Kylian Mbappe is poised to take on the prestigious number 10 jersey at Real Madrid next season, indicating a strong likelihood of his impending move to the Spanish club.

This much-anticipated transfer has been a long time coming for the French star, who has harboured dreams of joining the Real Madrid team since his youth.

The report suggests that for this jersey change to happen, Luka Modric, the current number 10 and key midfielder for Real Madrid, would need to either decide to leave the club during the summer or retire, as his contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

The decision from Modric is crucial to pave the way for Mbappe’s integration into the team, wearing the sought-after number 10 jersey.

A monumental signing for Real Madrid

While there may still be a few hurdles to overcome, there is widespread belief that Mbappe’s transfer to Real Madrid is inevitable

After previously missing out on opportunities to sign the French forward, the Spanish club appears ready to secure his move this summer.

The potential signing is set to be a significant moment for Real Madrid, as Mbappe is one of the most promising and talented players in the world.

As such, his arrival at the Spanish capital will mark the beginning of a new chapter for the club.

Mbappe has had his farewell

For many months, speculation swirled around Mbappe’s future, with many convinced that he was leaning towards a move abroad.

Even up until the day before his contract extension was announced in 2022, some believed he had chosen a path towards Madrid.

But it seems the story will not repeat itself. After spending two additional years Mbappe is set to leave the club at the end of his seventh season.

He declined to take up the option of extending his contract by another year, thereby hinting at his departure.

While neither Mbappe nor the club have publicly stated more since then, it is known that in February, he informed Nasser Al-Khelaifi that this would be his last season with the team.

A week later, he shared the same information with his teammates in the privacy of the locker room.

As Real Madrid gear up to face Borussia Dortmund in the finals of the UEFA Champions League this weekend, a number of their players interacted with the press today as part of the UEFA Open Media Day.

Jude Bellingham was one of the stars who answered questions from the media ahead of what will be an emotional game for him against his former club, in his homeland.

The England international has enjoyed a spectacular debut season at Real Madrid and is seen as a strong contender for the Ballon d’Or this season.

However, when asked about the Golden Orb, Bellingham tipped his Madrid teammate Vinicius Jr. as his pick to win the prestigious honour this year.

“For me, Vinicius is the best in the world. He creates magic out of nothing. He has everything to be the best,” said Bellingham, as quoted by The Athletic’s Guillermo Rai.

After all, Vinicius has also enjoyed a scintillating campaign and is one of the frontrunners to walk away with the Ballon d’Or, owing to his clutch performances for Real Madrid.

The Brazilian also spoke to the media today and was asked about the Ballon d’Or. Interestingly, he went on to name Bellingham as his pick to win the Golden Ball.

“I would give the Ballon d’Or to Bellingham,” he said, as quoted by Carrusel.

When Bellingham was informed about Vinicius picking him as the favourite for the Ballon d’Or, the England international responded by saying:

“If that’s how he feels, then you can split it in two (laughs).”

The responses show the strong bond and camaraderie that the two superstars of Real Madrid share.

Both are contenders to lift the Golden Ball this year and a win in the Champions League, coupled with strong performances in the summer’s international tournaments, would further enhance their chances.
