As we near the end of the 2024/25 campaign, Real Madrid are edging closer to signing Kylian Mbappe.

Although neither parties have yet to officiate any deal, it is established that Mbappe will not continue at Parc des Princes following a broken promise.

Mbappe will thus become a free agent in the coming summer, with Real Madrid ready to snap him up on a free transfer.

Javier Tebas on Mbappe’s move to Real Madrid

In a recent interview, Javier Tebas was asked about the prospect of seeing Mbappe in La Liga next season.

The La Liga president welcomed the potential move, but he also stated that he won’t view Mbappe as the best player in La Liga.

Tebas went on to commend Real Madrid for going ahead with the Mbappe deal despite the scrutiny of the media.

“First, for Real Madrid, and I also say this as a Real Madrid fan, it is a great joy, he is one of the best players in the world. I could no longer say that he is the best, because I stick with Bellingham as the best and with Vinicius as well,” Tebas said in an interview with Expansion.

“But he is one of the best players in the world. As for Real Madrid, one of the best players in the world arrives in La Liga, so we have to be very happy, I think Real Madrid knows how to manage this signing despite the media anxiety and impatience. They have done it at a good time to optimize the cost.,” he added.

The addition of Mbappe will indeed add more star power to the Real Madrid squad – arguably making them the most feared side in Europe.

Tebas, though, has been quite critical of Real Madrid’s growing power recently, particularly because of Florentino Perez’s strong support of the European Super League.

Tebas has spoken against Real Madrid openly numerous times in recent times.

The Spaniard, though, appears to be completely on board with the club’s pursuit of Mbappe this summer, knowing the Frenchman’s arrival could significantly add more strength to La Liga’s viewership across the globe.

Speaking in an interview with Sport BILD (h/t AS), Germany legend Michael Ballack has claimed that Bayer Leverkusen sensation Florian Wirtz is ready to play for Real Madrid.

Wirtz is a player that Real Madrid have been closely monitoring for a while now, with the German sensation being seen as a long-term replacement for Toni Kroos, who announced his retirement yesterday.

A move for Wirtz is being planned for the summer of 2025 and Ballack believes that the Bundesliga title winner with Leverkusen is ready for the big move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

“Wirtz is ready for Real Madrid,” said Ballack.

“In terms of football, Wirtz can definitely play for Real Madrid. You can also see it in Jude Bellingham after his move from BVB: when you play with even better players, you become even better,” he added.

Wirtz has a contract with Bayer Leverkusen that runs until the summer of 2027. As things stand, the new German champions have no intentions of selling their prized asset this year.

However, there appears to be an acceptance that the German international will be on the move in 2025.

Other top clubs like Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also understood to be interested, but Real Madrid are likely to beat them in the race should it come down to that next year.

A move for Wirtz, though, could cost in excess of €100 million for Real Madrid should they do indeed decide to proceed with his signing next year.
