Speaking after Liverpool’s win over Brentford earlier today, Ibrahima Konate has dropped a major hint that Kylian Mbappe will be joining Real Madrid in the summer.

It has been confirmed that Mbappe will be leaving PSG at the end of the season when his contract with the Ligue 1 champions expires.

Real Madrid have long been touted as the likeliest destination for the 25-year-old French superstar. However, Liverpool have also been credited with an interest in the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner.

Konate hints at Mbappe to Real Madrid

Now, though, Konate, Mbappe’s France international teammate, has all but confirmed that his compatriot will be heading to Real Madrid in the summer.

After Liverpool’s win over Brentford in the Premier League, the 24-year-old was asked about Mbappe’s situation and whether the forward could end up at Anfield once his PSG contract expires.

In response, Konate said (h/t Canal+): “In all honesty do you really think he’s going to come to Liverpool? We don’t think about him, we all know where he’s going to go.”

Konate’s comments come after Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had also ruled the Reds out of the race, having said:

“I have no clue. I am not involved in that, but I can tell you that I would be surprised. It would be tricky for most of the top clubs I know – wages, signing fee.”

All roads lead to Madrid

With Mbappe’s departure from PSG confirmed, all signs are indicating that the French superstar will be headed to Real Madrid in the summer.

In fact, some reports are suggesting that Los Blancos president Florentino Perez has already informed the locker room about the 25-year-old’s impending arrival.

Any official announcement might be held back until the end of the season though.

Real Madrid will sign off on their successful La Liga campaign today with a fixture against Real Betis at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The game, being seen as a final preparation for the UEFA Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund, sees manager Carlo Ancelotti field his strongest possible lineup.

All eyes will obviously be on the retiring Toni Kroos, who bids goodbye to the Bernabeu in what will be his final home game as a Real Madrid player.

The German international starts in the centre of the park alongside Federico Valverde, while Eduardo Camavinga slots in as the No. 6.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid captain, Nacho Fernandez, also starts in what could be his last game at the Bernabeu as well.

Nacho pairs up with Antonio Rudiger in defence, flanked by the full-back pairing of Dani Carvajal and Ferland Mendy. Thibaut Courtois starts in goal ahead of Andriy Lunin and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Up front, Vinicius Jr. starts in attack, partnering up with Rodrygo Goes. Top scorer Jude Bellingham occupies the attacking midfield role for Real Madrid.
