Uncertainty over Vinicius Jr.’s future at Real Madrid is beginning to attract attention across Europe, with Liverpool emerging as one of the clubs monitoring developments surrounding the Brazilian’s contract.

According to Ramon Alvarez de Mon, the Premier League side has shown genuine interest in the winger and is keeping a close eye on how negotiations over his renewal unfold over the coming months. 

While there is no suggestion that a move is imminent, Liverpool view 2027 as the most realistic opportunity should the forward fail to agree fresh terms at the Santiago Bernabeu.

For now, the feeling within the club is that Real Madrid want to keep the Brazilian, and Vinicius has also publicly expressed his desire to continue at the club. 

However, discussions over a new deal have lost momentum, leaving enough uncertainty for rival clubs to begin assessing the situation.

Salary gap delays breakthrough in negotiations

The biggest obstacle remains the financial terms of a new contract.

Real Madrid and Vinicius’ representatives are still some distance apart in their valuations, with several million euros separating the two sides. 

Until that gap narrows, there appears to be little chance of negotiations moving forward in a meaningful way.

The report adds that the player’s camp does not believe further meetings will achieve much unless the club returns with an improved proposal. As things stand, therefore, neither party is rushing towards a compromise.

Notably, though, that does not mean a renewal is off the table. Those close to the situation believe the picture could change during the season as performances, results and the player’s role within the squad all influence future discussions. 

For now, the contract remains one of the biggest unresolved issues facing Real Madrid.

Liverpool see an opportunity

While talks remain on hold, Vinicius’ representatives have explored the level of interest from other clubs as part of their long-term planning.

Liverpool are among those who have made their admiration clear, but their focus is on 2027 rather than this summer. 

Waiting until the current contract runs down would make any deal significantly easier to finance, avoiding the enormous transfer fee that would almost certainly be required before then.

With just a year remaining on the contract, pressure is growing on Real Madrid. 

Even so, if the negotiations remain unresolved, more questions will be asked about Vinicius’ future.
