In recent times, Dominik Szoboszlai has become one of the most important players for Liverpool.

Since joining the club in 2023, the playmaker has featured in 128 competitive matches, racking up almost 50 goal involvements.

Szoboszlai’s name, though, has become a hot topic in the Real Madrid camp as well, especially after the revelation of his national team coach, Marco Rossi.

Marco Rossi’s claim about Szoboszlai

Rossi, who has maintained a close relationship with the midfielder since his childhood, has recently revealed that playing for Real Madrid has been the 25-year-old’s dream.

“Because of the very close and direct relationship I have with Dominik Szoboszlai since he started playing football as a child, Real Madrid has always been his dream,” he said, in a recent interview with WinWin (h/t MARCA).

However, Rossi was quick to bring the situation back to reality by acknowledging the player’s current commitments.

Szoboszlai has evolved into a key figure at Anfield, growing into a leadership role within one of Europe’s most prestigious clubs.

Rossi noted that the final decision regarding any potential move rests with both the player and Liverpool, a club where he is already highly valued.

“I don’t know if he’ll be able to take that step, because the decision depends on him and also on his club,” he said.

The coach did not rule out the possibility of a contract renewal at Anfield, emphasising that Liverpool remains one of the biggest clubs in the world.

“I absolutely don’t rule out the possibility of him staying at Liverpool and renewing his contract there, especially because he’s highly valued within the club,” he concluded.

Real Madrid will be looking to pick up their fifth win of the 2026/27 La Liga season when they take on Elche CF at Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero later tonight.

With 12 points from five games, Los Blancos are currently second in the league table, three points below leaders FC Barcelona.

As such, the Spanish capital club will be eager to get the win and close the gap to the top.

Guler starts, Bellingham rested

Ahead of kickoff, Real Madrid have announced the starting lineup that will take the field against Elche, with Jose Mourinho making some important changes.

For starters, Arda Guler is back in the lineup after appearing as a substitute in the win over Rayo Vallecano.

Interestingly, however, he starts in the attacking midfield role, with Mourinho opting to rest Jude Bellingham, who has started all of Real Madrid’s games so far.

That also means that Yan Diomande retains his place in the team, starting for a second time in a row on the right wing. Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. continue in their respective positions in attack.

Another notable change sees Aurelien Tchouameni make his first start of the season after recovering from injury and making two appearances off the bench.

He replaces Bernardo Silva as Federico Valverde’s partner in the middle of the park.

Meanwhile, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Marc Cucurella come in as full-backs, while Ibrahima Konate and Dean Huijsen slot in at centre-back in front of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
