Luka Modric is one of the finest midfielders the world has seen. The Real Madrid star has been the heart and soul of the team’s setup for over a decade now, although it is clear that he is now being phased out.

Despite his reduced prominence this campaign, Modric was a force to reckon with in his first start of the season against Getafe. In fact, it was his combination with Kroos that brought the team back into the game in the second half.

In a recent interview with SN (h/t Madrid Xtra) the Croatian legend spoke about Real Madrid’s new summer signings and what he made of them in their short time at the club. He began with the signing of the summer, Jude Bellingham, who has scored five goals in just four appearances for Los Blancos.

“I have to say Jude has pleasantly surprised me. It was known he was talented, but when you see him up close, you only realize his potential.”

“He really is a top talent. He has a sense of the game, he can achieve what he imagines, he also has that ‘personality’. He has all the prerequisites to achieve a great career,” he added about the English protege.

The veteran then went on to give his two cents on Arda Guler – the young Turkish sensation who has endured a difficult start to life in Spain through a meniscal rupture.

“Arda Güler is an special talent, you could see it in the training sessions before the injury. His football will be spectacular. He has some skills with the ball that are special. He is a very nice guy, humble, modest and eager to learn,” Modric said on the player he hopes will inherit his number 10 jersey.

Finally, the club captain revealed his admiration for the team’s new goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga, who has been rock solid in goal so far this season.

“It’s clear to everyone he is a top goalkeeper.”

Aurelien Tchouameni has had an exciting start to his career at Real Madrid. Since joining the club for almost €80 million last summer, the young Frenchman has now become a pivotal figure in Real Madrid’s midfield unit.

However, prior to his move to Santiago Bernabeu, the midfielder was closely linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

In a recent interview, Tchouameni opened up on his links to PSG but revealed his decision to join Real Madrid.

Talking about speculations linking him to PSG, Tchouameni said (h/t Madrid Zone), “PSG? Frankly, I thought about it. It’s a very big European club, we want the French clubs to succeed.”

“But honestly, when Real Madrid calls you, it’s very complicated to say no,” Tchouameni added.

The midfielder was linked with a move to PSG during his time at AS Monaco. Les Parisiens wanted to sign the youngster as part of their plans to reinforce the midfield unit.

Tchouameni, though, ended up opting for a move to Real Madrid, which turned out to be a prudent decision from the midfielder’s end.

Tchouameni’s career at Real Madrid

Aurelien Tchouameni made a total of 50 competitive appearances during his maiden season at Real Madrid.

Although the Frenchman was not entirely a first-team regular in Carlo Ancelotti’s setup, his stature in the team is expected to grow in the coming years.

Especially as Toni Kroos and Luka Modric move on at the end of the season, there is scope for Tchouameni to become a first-team regular in the Real Madrid midfield in the years to come.

The former AS Monaco starlet has already played a crucial role in the starting eleven so far this season and it is only going to continue as the season progresses.
