Leny Yoro has become a hot topic at Real Madrid in recent days, with the club in talks with LOSC Lille to sign the young defender.

For much of the summer, Real Madrid were struggling to find an agreement with Lille. But the French outfit have lately shown the willingness to negotiate for a lower fee and Real Madrid are ready to take full advantage.

Recent reports indicate that Real Madrid have already made an initial bid worth only €20 million, even as Lille accepted a bid from Manchester United, worth over €50 million.

Real Madrid lead Man United in Yoro race

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has issued an important update on Leny Yoro’s transfer saga, offering a rather grim outlook on Manchester United’s chances.

Romano claims that Man United still remain outsiders in the race to sign Yoro, even though the Premier League giants have tabled a far better offer.

Much of that can be attributed to the fact that Leny Yoro has his heart set on a move to Santiago Bernabeu. The defender is desperate to wear a Real Madrid shirt and as such, he is unlikely to entertain the offer from Man United, despite Lille’s insistence.

Real Madrid themselves have made it clear to Yoro that he must show commitment to join the club this summer. If not, he is free to accept offers from other clubs.

Man United unwilling to wait for Yoro

Romano adds that Real Madrid have informed Lille they will either have to accept the club’s discounted offer or lose him for free next summer.

Thanks to Yoro’s desire to play for Los Blancos, Real Madrid are now in an excellent position to snap up the services of the young defender on a cut-price deal this summer.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are not ready to wait for Yoro. The player has to make a final decision as soon as possible and if it doesn’t come, the Premier League giants will look for other alternatives in the market.

Real Madrid are in active negotiations with LOSC Lille for the transfer of Leny Yoro. After weeks of impasse, the club appear to have made some ground in the race to sign the Frenchman.

However, should the Yoro deal fall through in the coming weeks, Real Madrid have identified Lazio’s Mario Gila as the ideal alternative.

Formerly of RM Castilla, Gila currently plies his trade for Lazio and has emerged as a key defensive lynchpin for the Italian outfit, impressing onlookers with his technique and discipline.

Mario Gila picks up fresh injury

However, in a major development, it appears Mario Gila has picked up a fresh injury during training, reports Diario AS.

In the pre-season camp at Auronzo di Cadore, Gila appears to have fractured his left foot and could be out for several weeks.

Lazio confirmed the defender’s injury, stating, “Mario Gila underwent clinical and instrumental examinations which revealed a fracture of the phalanx of the big toe of his left foot, suffered during training.”

Gila has started taking the appropriate treatment and the extent of his injury will be known soon. However, as things stand, the defender could be out for at least the next few weeks.

What does this mean for Real Madrid?

Mario Gila’s fresh injury setback is sure to dwindle any hopes of a potential return to Real Madrid this summer.

In any case, Gila’s chances of returning to Santiago Bernabeu were slim given that Real Madrid have finally made some ground in the deal to sign top defensive target Leny Yoro.

Los Blancos, though, would have liked having someone like Gila available as an alternative, especially with LOSC Lille still demanding a fortune for the Frenchman.

Unfortunately, that might not be an option anymore, no thanks to Gila’s injury. The club, though, will keep a close eye on the Spaniard’s injury situation, knowing he could return to fitness before the end of the summer break.
