Kylian Mbappe has recently broken his silence on his future, especially with Real Madrid waiting in the wings.

While Mbappe largely remained coy on his future, he spoke of an agreement with PSG that raised a few eyebrows, even in the Spanish capital.

It left many Real Madrid supporters confused as to which agreement with PSG Mbappe was talking about.

Mbappe’s secret agreement with PSG

A recent report from Mundo Deportivo has shed more light on this agreement, suggesting that Mbappe’s secret agreement with PSG is not something Real Madrid should be worried about.

That is because the agreement entailed PSG would not have to pay Mbappe a staggering €80 million loyalty bonus that was initially agreed when Mbappe renewed his contract at PSG.

The bonus release would have been applicable in the summer, meaning Mbappe would have been entitled to €80 million from PSG even if he had left the club in the summer.

With Mbappe seemingly not keen on staying at Parc des Princes beyond 2024, PSG wanted to remove this bonus.

The French giants pushed for his deal when there was fresh tension between the two parties at the start of the season, especially after Mbappe confirmed his desire to leave the club in 2024.

PSG were quick to remove the Frenchman from the squad. In order to get him back into the mix, the club urged the player to release and take back the bonus clause.

Under the new agreement, Mbappe can leave PSG in the summer, with the French club not having to pay him a hefty bonus. However, if the forward does end up renewing his contract at the club, he will receive a new bonus.

The same is applicable if Mbappe opts to join Real Madrid. The Spanish giants would likely have to dish a handsome signing-on bonus, in order to get the player to sign a long-term deal.

Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has said that during a recent training session, he bumped into Raul, a former striker and current Castilla manager, who confessed to him that he did not like his decision to retire from the game.

The midfielder added that he would now be interested in playing the Legends match where the likes of Zinedine Zidane, Roberto Carlos and Raul participate.

The veteran admitted that playing alongside these legends one day would be quite exciting.

“When I left the training yesterday, Raul was outside. He told me that he did not like the decision at first but found something positive because now I’m definitely playing this legends game with him,” said Kroos on his podcast

“He said I had to be there. Me and Zizou playing behind him, Figo on the right, and RC3 (Roberto Carlos) at the back. That could be funny,” he added.

During the early hours of Tuesday, May 21, Kroos announced that he would retire from professional football after the upcoming European Championship in his home country.

As a result, Real Madrid now have to work on an alternate strategy to plan life beyond Kroos. As suggested before, the Los Blancos are of the idea that at present, there is no one in the market who can fill the void.

On the other hand, though, Dani Ceballos’ chances of staying have now increased. At the same time, there are reports that Joshua Kimmich is being monitored, but nothing seems concrete yet.

For now, Real Madrid are largely expected to rely on the current roster as the likes of Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde and even Jude Bellingham are more than capable of occupying Kroos’ position.

If even that does not work out, the team from the Spanish capital can look into the youth system to rope in a capable alternative.
