As the summer transfer window nears its end, the possibility of Kylian Mbappe staying put at PSG for another season is beginning to dawn on Real Madrid.

Los Blancos anxiously trailed the French World Cup winner in hopes of fortifying their front line after the departure of Karim Benzema, who was a constant source of goals.

However, Real Madrid does not appear excessively worried about the present and aims to acquire Mbappe on a free transfer next year.

Mbappe was already a target for 2024, according to the Madrid higher-ups.

Mbappe’s meeting with PSG was not related to renewal

Now, as per L’Equipe, the vow not to leave as a free agent is not a factor in Kylian Mbappé’s return to the PSG team.

In fact, the contract extension was not a topic of discussion during the meeting with the club.

The report argues that Mbappe had no intention of renewing beyond 2024, and thus the talks with the club that have seen him reintegrated into the team were on a different subject.

Instead of assuring continuity, Kylian was obliged to give up something ‘financially’ to train and play again.

According to Mario Cortegana, the sacrifice the French World Cup winner had to make was giving up his bonuses.

Mbappé renouncing the bonus and remaining without an extension is being seen as one of the solutions that allowed both parties to find common ground.

At PSG, the scenario is favorably received because it is thought that the player may even end up renewing if the new project led by Luis Enrique appeals to him.

If not, sacrificing the bonuses would allow the Parisian club to suffer less financial loss as a result of his departure.

All in all, the recent news indicates that Real Madrid do not have to worry about losing their star man as the option of acquiring him in 2024 is well alive.

Aurelien Tchouameni has had an exciting start to his career at Real Madrid. Since joining the club for almost €80 million last summer, the young Frenchman has now become a pivotal figure in Real Madrid’s midfield unit.

However, prior to his move to Santiago Bernabeu, the midfielder was closely linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

In a recent interview, Tchouameni opened up on his links to PSG but revealed his decision to join Real Madrid.

Talking about speculations linking him to PSG, Tchouameni said (h/t Madrid Zone), “PSG? Frankly, I thought about it. It’s a very big European club, we want the French clubs to succeed.”

“But honestly, when Real Madrid calls you, it’s very complicated to say no,” Tchouameni added.

The midfielder was linked with a move to PSG during his time at AS Monaco. Les Parisiens wanted to sign the youngster as part of their plans to reinforce the midfield unit.

Tchouameni, though, ended up opting for a move to Real Madrid, which turned out to be a prudent decision from the midfielder’s end.

Tchouameni’s career at Real Madrid

Aurelien Tchouameni made a total of 50 competitive appearances during his maiden season at Real Madrid.

Although the Frenchman was not entirely a first-team regular in Carlo Ancelotti’s setup, his stature in the team is expected to grow in the coming years.

Especially as Toni Kroos and Luka Modric move on at the end of the season, there is scope for Tchouameni to become a first-team regular in the Real Madrid midfield in the years to come.

The former AS Monaco starlet has already played a crucial role in the starting eleven so far this season and it is only going to continue as the season progresses.
