Mourinho wants Real Madrid to re-sign another ex-academy gem apart from Nico Paz – report
According to journalist Miguel Serrano, incoming Real Madrid manager, Jose Mourinho, has identified Osasuna winger Victor Munoz as a key signing for his new project, intending to trigger the club’s buyback clause to bring the academy graduate home.
The Portuguese tactician views the 22-year-old as an essential asset whose versatility and explosive pace are a perfect fit for the plans he has for the team.
The strategic buyback clause
Munoz, a La Fabrica graduate, was sold to Osasuna last summer on a five-year contract in a deal that saw the Pamplona club secure 50% of his rights.
Crucially, Real Madrid inserted a strategic safety net into the agreement: a buyback option set at €8 million for this summer, which rises by €1 million for the next two years – similar to the deal for Nico Paz, who is set to return to the Bernabeu imminently.
Now, as per the report, Mourinho has requested that the board activate this clause immediately, seeing it as a low-risk, high-reward market opportunity to reinforce the team’s depth with a player who already understands the club’s values.
Tactical versatility and impact
Mourinho’s interest is driven heavily by Munoz’s impressive adaptability across the pitch.
The manager believes the player can operate effectively on both wings and possesses the physical attributes to be successfully converted into a full-back or wing-back in future tactical setups.
This assessment follows a breakout season at El Sadar, where Munoz recorded six goals and two assists in 34 La Liga appearances, consistency that even earned him his debut goal for the Spanish national team.
While rival clubs like Barcelona have shown interest, Real Madrid hold the decisive advantage. With the €8 million option significantly lower than his release clause, the club could be poised to execute Mourinho’s wish and secure the forward’s return.

Mbappe happy with positive start
After receiving the award at the training facilities earlier today, Mbappe spoke to RMTV, talking positively about the team’s start to the campaign and outlined his ambitions for the months ahead.
“We’ve started the season positively. I hope we can continue like this on Saturday. I think there can be a lot of success this season,” he said.
The Real Madrid forward is determined to play his part as the team pursue trophies on multiple fronts.
“I’m really looking forward to helping the team and showing that we can do great things this year. I’m always happy to play here. I know it’s a privilege,” he noted.
Welcoming the new arrivals
Mbappe also discussed the new faces who have joined the squad, stressing the importance of ensuring everyone settles quickly into the team.
