Newcastle United join Como in growing race for Real Madrid talent
Gonzalo Garcia’s rise continues to attract attention across Europe, with Newcastle United emerging as the latest club interested in securing the Real Madrid youngster’s signature.
According to TeamTalk, the Premier League side is actively monitoring the Spanish forward as Eddie Howe looks to strengthen his attacking options ahead of another demanding campaign.
However, Newcastle are far from alone in the pursuit, with several clubs across Europe closely tracking the situation.
Newcastle and Como step up interest
Newcastle’s recruitment team is reportedly assessing multiple attacking targets this summer, and Garcia has become one of the names under serious consideration.
The Magpies are already working on several transfer fronts as they attempt to build a squad capable of competing for European qualification once again.
While former Real Madrid academy graduate Victor Munoz remains a target, Garcia has also attracted significant attention.
Discussions between Newcastle and Real Madrid regarding the player have reportedly taken place, which suggests the interest from the English club is quite genuine.
At the same time, Serie A side Como continue to monitor the situation closely.
The Italian club has developed a productive relationship with Real Madrid in recent years, and manager Cesc Fabregas is believed to be playing a key role in exploring potential opportunities involving young talents from the Spanish capital.
There are more than just two suitors
Newcastle and Como may currently be among the most active admirers, but the list of interested clubs extends much further.
Real Sociedad and Borussia Dortmund have also been linked with the Spanish attacker, creating the possibility of a competitive battle developing over the coming weeks.
For some clubs, however, Real Madrid’s valuation may present a major obstacle.
As reported before, Los Blancos have placed a €60 million price tag on Garcia and have shown no intention of lowering their demands.
That position immediately complicates matters for several interested sides and could effectively remove some potential suitors from contention.
As a result, alternative formulas could begin to emerge as clubs search for ways to secure the player’s services.
Real Madrid are back in action tomorrow in La Liga as they take on Elche at Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero on Matchday 6.
The Merengues go into the game on the back of a solid 4-1 win over Rayo Vallecano at the Santiago Bernabeu and will be eager to build on that, especially with the Madrid derby coming up later in the week.
Ahead of the trip to Elche, Jose Mourinho has announced the squad list of players that will be at his disposal for the game tomorrow night.
There are no new returns to the squad as Real Madrid continue to be without Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy, and Rodrygo Goes for the game.
Mourinho could look to make changes to his starting lineup, keeping an eye on the derby at the weekend, which could potentially open the doors for someone like Aurelien Tchouameni to start, having been eased back into the thick of things after return from injury.
There could be some rotations in defence as well, with the likes of Antonio Rudiger and Trent Alexander-Arnold hoping to get some action on the pitch.
It remains to be seen if Yan Diomande starts another game after featuring from the get-go against Rayo at the weekend, especially considering that Arda Guler has been a key player for Mourinho’s team.
Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr., and Jude Bellingham have started all matches so far and it will be interesting to see if one or all of them are given a break with an eye on the derby.
