Reinier Jesus is one of the very few investments that have not worked out for Real Madrid in recent years.

Joining the club in 2020 for a fee of €30 million, Reinier has struggled to realise his potential at the Santiago Bernabeu, or during his various spells at Borussia Dortmund and Girona.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder remains on Real Madrid’s books but is not a part of Carlo Ancelotti’s plans this season. And, as such the Merengues are looking to ship him off on loan or permanently, but have not had any offers yet.

PAOK want to sign Reinier

According to a recent report from UOL, PAOK have shown the desire to sign Reinier this summer.

The Greek club seem keen on reinforcing their ranks in the creative department, with Reinier emerging as the ideal option.

The former Flamengo starlet may not have had much success during his spells at Borussia Dortmund or Girona, but he is regarded highly due to his technical prowess.

Reinier is indeed a dynamic creative midfielder, who can operate in tight spaces and could thrive in the Greek top-flight.

As per UOL, Reinier has no future at Real Madrid and is expected to depart the club on a loan deal this summer.

Contacts made

PAOK desire to snap up the Brazilian playmaker by the end of the month, and have even made the first contacts with the club.

However, the Greek outfit are yet to submit an official offer and with just a week remaining until the transfer market slams to a shut, the club are running out of time.

Negotiations with Real Madrid are unlikely to be a hurdle for PAOK, but it remains to be seen whether or not the Greek giants are in a position to afford the full salary of the Brazilian attacking midfield prospect.

There just does not appear to be any respite from injuries for Real Madrid.

Just when it appeared that they were close to having their full squad – barring the two long-term absentees – the Merengues have been struck down by fresh injuries this week.

Arda Guler, who was on the cusp of being named in the squad for the Las Palmas clash, injured himself in training on Tuesday.

And now, during the game against Las Palmas at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid have lost key defender David Alaba to an injury.

Close to the 40th-minute mark, Alaba went down on the ground clutching his leg and appeared to be in quite a bit of discomfort.

Soon enough, the medical staff arrived to take a look at the Austrian and seconds later he was off the pitch and straight towards the tunnel.

Lucas Vazquez came on to replace the injured Alaba, with Nacho Fernandez moving into the centre-back position alongside Antonio Rudiger.

Alaba’s injury leaves Carlo Ancelotti with just two fit centre-backs in Rudiger and Nacho, which is set to be a matter of great concern.

The hope will be that Alaba’s condition is nothing serious and that he is able to mount a quick recovery.
