Brentford forward Ivan Toney has joked that he would love to move to Real Madrid in the summer.

“If Brentford was to sell me… they make their money, I move to Real Madrid and it’s all good,” the forward was quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

Toney, 28, has a contract with Brentford until 2025 but his manager, Thomas Frank, has already admitted that the English team will cash in on him this summer.

This happened days after the forward returned to action after serving an eight-month ban for 232 breaches of the FA’s rules for betting on football.

“It is relatively obvious that Ivan Toney will probably be sold this summer,” Frank was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

“We also know what he is worth. I don’t think there are many strikers in the world who are better than him right now,” he added.

Real Madrid and Toney?

At Real Madrid, there isn’t really a need to sign a striker mostly because Kylian Mbappe is already on his way to the Spanish capital.

Moreover, there could be overbooking in the attacking department too considering that Carlo Ancelotti also has Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo to choose from.

Such has been the situation at Madrid that Rodrygo’s future has been put into question, leading to the suggestion that he might leave.

However, as reported before, the Madrid management and coaching staff share the same idea that the Brazil international is equally important to the team.

Lastly, there also happens to be a curious case of Joselu. Brought in to replace Karim Benzema, the Espanyol loanee has exceeded expectations at the club, scoring 13 goals and three assists.

Right now, there is a floating idea that Madrid might trigger the buy option they have in his contract and if that happens, Toney to Real Madrid would make absolutely no sense.

Speaking in an interview with Sport BILD (h/t AS), Germany legend Michael Ballack has claimed that Bayer Leverkusen sensation Florian Wirtz is ready to play for Real Madrid.

Wirtz is a player that Real Madrid have been closely monitoring for a while now, with the German sensation being seen as a long-term replacement for Toni Kroos, who announced his retirement yesterday.

A move for Wirtz is being planned for the summer of 2025 and Ballack believes that the Bundesliga title winner with Leverkusen is ready for the big move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

“Wirtz is ready for Real Madrid,” said Ballack.

“In terms of football, Wirtz can definitely play for Real Madrid. You can also see it in Jude Bellingham after his move from BVB: when you play with even better players, you become even better,” he added.

Wirtz has a contract with Bayer Leverkusen that runs until the summer of 2027. As things stand, the new German champions have no intentions of selling their prized asset this year.

However, there appears to be an acceptance that the German international will be on the move in 2025.

Other top clubs like Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also understood to be interested, but Real Madrid are likely to beat them in the race should it come down to that next year.

A move for Wirtz, though, could cost in excess of €100 million for Real Madrid should they do indeed decide to proceed with his signing next year.
