PSG believe that Mbappe intentionally leaked the letter to create a ‘toxic situation’ – report

Kylian Mbappe’s big announcement could not have come at a worse time for Paris Saint-Germain. The timing of the announcement surprised them, for they firmly believed that negotiations with the player over a renewal were progressing in the right direction.
Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s men now find themselves in a difficult situation. If the French club opt to keep Mbappe for the final year of his contract, they would lose their biggest asset on a free transfer in 2024. A sale now would directly hamper their next season, for a replacement is difficult to find on such short notice.
According to reports from Le Parisien, PSG believe that Mbappe purposely leaked the letter to the media to create a toxic environment behind the scenes. He only stands to profit from the media attention and is now pressing to leave this summer.
The youngster, however, blatantly denied any such scheme in his mind during an interview last night. As revealed by Fabrizio Romano, he said:
“I didn’t ask to leave PSG or to join Real Madrid. I just told the club that I won’t activate the option to extend the contract until June 2025.”
Real Madrid are, quite simply, the favourites to land him this summer if he is to change clubs, and the French club are willing to sell him to the Spanish giants. The Merengues would be willing to splash around €200 million on his signing.
After last summer’s episode, there appears to be a serious chance of the prodigy moving to Real Madrid this summer. It will be a long battle for Los Blancos, however, especially from an economic standpoint.

Real Madrid defender taken off with an injury against Las Palmas

There just does not appear to be any respite from injuries for Real Madrid.
Just when it appeared that they were close to having their full squad – barring the two long-term absentees – the Merengues have been struck down by fresh injuries this week.
Arda Guler, who was on the cusp of being named in the squad for the Las Palmas clash, injured himself in training on Tuesday.
And now, during the game against Las Palmas at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid have lost key defender David Alaba to an injury.
Close to the 40th-minute mark, Alaba went down on the ground clutching his leg and appeared to be in quite a bit of discomfort.
Soon enough, the medical staff arrived to take a look at the Austrian and seconds later he was off the pitch and straight towards the tunnel.
Lucas Vazquez came on to replace the injured Alaba, with Nacho Fernandez moving into the centre-back position alongside Antonio Rudiger.
Alaba’s injury leaves Carlo Ancelotti with just two fit centre-backs in Rudiger and Nacho, which is set to be a matter of great concern.
The hope will be that Alaba’s condition is nothing serious and that he is able to mount a quick recovery.
