Less than a month remains before the summer transfer window closes for the year. Yet, there still is no concrete update on Kylian Mbappe’s speculated move to Real Madrid.

The circumstances favour Los Blancos, and it is safe to say that they have the situation in their grasp. Yet, one recollects how postponing Mbappe’s deal until late in the window went down for Real Madrid in the past.

PSG negotiating with other clubs

PSG have now come to terms with the fact that their star player will leave. They are actively pushing for his departure this summer, but there is an eerie silence from both the player and Real Madrid.

According to reports from Bruno Andrade, PSG have not stopped negotiating with other clubs despite knowing that Mbappe wants to join only Real Madrid.

The Parisiens have, in fact, accepted two offers for the World Cup winner – one from Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia and another from the Premier League. However, they do not have an agreement with Mbappe over his departure.

The journalist further adds that PSG have sent a stern message to Mbappe’s entourage in view of his silence.

The direct order from Qatar states that the youngster will not play a minute if he stays at the club for the 2023-24 campaign, thus pushing him to secure an exit.

The latest blow for PSG

While externally projecting the image of ostracising Mbappe and pushing for his departure, PSG internally refuse to give up hope of his continuity.

The French outfit proposed a new renewal offer to the player in the last 48 hours which included a clause for him to leave next summer to a club of his choice. Yet, Mbappe rejected the offer without batting an eye.

As it stands, reports state that an official proposal from Real Madrid can be expected after August 15.

There just does not appear to be any respite from injuries for Real Madrid.

Just when it appeared that they were close to having their full squad – barring the two long-term absentees – the Merengues have been struck down by fresh injuries this week.

Arda Guler, who was on the cusp of being named in the squad for the Las Palmas clash, injured himself in training on Tuesday.

And now, during the game against Las Palmas at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid have lost key defender David Alaba to an injury.

Close to the 40th-minute mark, Alaba went down on the ground clutching his leg and appeared to be in quite a bit of discomfort.

Soon enough, the medical staff arrived to take a look at the Austrian and seconds later he was off the pitch and straight towards the tunnel.

Lucas Vazquez came on to replace the injured Alaba, with Nacho Fernandez moving into the centre-back position alongside Antonio Rudiger.

Alaba’s injury leaves Carlo Ancelotti with just two fit centre-backs in Rudiger and Nacho, which is set to be a matter of great concern.

The hope will be that Alaba’s condition is nothing serious and that he is able to mount a quick recovery.
