Even as we near the end of the January transfer window, the future of Kylian Mbappe remains an unresolved yet much-discussed topic in European football.

The Frenchman has been close to Real Madrid’s doorstep twice without completing the move. This upcoming summer is said to be his last chance to seal a move to Santiago Bernabeu.

Mbappe’s contract at Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of the season, meaning he is eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with Real Madrid.

However, PSG are not giving up on the attacker and have proposed a lucrative package, in a desperate attempt to keep hold of the player.

Mbappe, though, is yet to make a decision on his future, despite immense pressure from both PSG and Real Madrid.

But as per a report from Diario AS, PSG are starting to feel pessimistic about the Frenchman’s future. As such, they have been forced to plan ahead without considering Mbappe.

This is a major development considering the fact that PSG’s efforts were a key reason behind Mbappe not yet penning an agreement with Real Madrid.

But it appears a state of uncertainty has ushered in the PSG camp, regarding the future of Mbappe, with very few now confident of keeping hold of the player beyond the upcoming summer.

It must also be noted that PSG have already started finding replacements for the Frenchman, with the club reportedly keeping a close eye on Rafael Leao, among others.

Real Madrid, for their part, are keen on signing Mbappe. But even they have their guard up and do not want to botch yet another deal for the former AS Monaco starlet.

Real Madrid will sign off on their successful La Liga campaign today with a fixture against Real Betis at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The game, being seen as a final preparation for the UEFA Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund, sees manager Carlo Ancelotti field his strongest possible lineup.

All eyes will obviously be on the retiring Toni Kroos, who bids goodbye to the Bernabeu in what will be his final home game as a Real Madrid player.

The German international starts in the centre of the park alongside Federico Valverde, while Eduardo Camavinga slots in as the No. 6.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid captain, Nacho Fernandez, also starts in what could be his last game at the Bernabeu as well.

Nacho pairs up with Antonio Rudiger in defence, flanked by the full-back pairing of Dani Carvajal and Ferland Mendy. Thibaut Courtois starts in goal ahead of Andriy Lunin and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Up front, Vinicius Jr. starts in attack, partnering up with Rodrygo Goes. Top scorer Jude Bellingham occupies the attacking midfield role for Real Madrid.
