PSG president breaks silence on Kylian Mbappe’s situation: “Had very good discussions”

With Real Madrid’s work in the transfer market seemingly over as mere hours remain until the window slams shut, it appears a last-ditch attempt for Kylian Mbappe is off the cards.
Just a day ago, reports began to emerge that PSG had not received any offers for Mbappe and that the Parisians expected their star man to stay put for another season.
Now, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, PSG’s president, has come out to deliver the final blow.
Al-Khelaifi is optimistic about Mbappe’s continuity
Claiming Mbappe’s loyalty to the Parisian colors, Nasser Al-Khelaif stated (h/t RMC Sport):
“Kylian Mbappé is a PSG player. We had very good discussions with him, he’s magnificent as a player, as a person, and as a professional. We’ve spoken with the rest of his family.”
Mbappe has stayed firm in his decision to not renew beyond 2024, and this did not initially sit well with the PSG hierarchy, which sought to offload him instead of losing him for free later down the road.
However, the two parties were able to find common ground, enabling the World Cup winner to stay in his final year.

As the president has publicly declared Mbappe’s continuance, any inkling of Real Madrid acquiring the Frenchman can be put to bed.
PSG will continue to persuade Mbappe
Meanwhile, Fabrice Hawkins has come out to report that Mbappe will end up staying at PSG and that the club hopes to extend their star man during the season.
With a new project and a newly assembled team, the Parisians aim to convince Mbappe to sign a further extension amidst the ongoing season.
For now, Real Madrid are unlikely to snatch the Frenchman this summer, yet the Merengues will be anxiously looking forward to next summer when Mbappe will officially be a free agent unless he ties the knot with PSG.
If he does renew, Real Madrid will end their pursuit of the 24-year-old for good and look at other options such as Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.

Vinicius Jr will not be back for Real Madrid’s derby vs Atletico this weekend

Real Madrid will come up against their biggest test of the 2023/24 season so far this weekend when they lock horns with neighbours Atletico Madrid.
However, they will once again have to face the challenge without one of their main players in the form of Vinicius Jr, reports Sergio Quirante.
No risks with Vinicius
Vinicius picked up an injury during Real Madrid’s third La Liga game of the season against Celta Vigo, following which he was subbed off.
The 23-year-old has since missed the last three matches against Getafe, Real Sociedad, and Union Berlin.
Reports earlier this week suggested that Vinicius had resumed training individually with the ball, which gave hopes that the attacker might make an early comeback in time for the derby against Atletico.
The Brazilian international has worked very hard to try and bring forward his return date and is closing in on making a comeback.
But Real Madrid are not prepared to take any risks with their star attacker. As such, he will not be rushed back for the derby against Atletico Madrid this week.
Who else will be absent?
Apart from Vinicius, Real Madrid are set to be without four other players, as Thibaut Courtois, Eder Militao, Arda Guler, and Dani Carvajal are also out with injuries.
Guler is close to a return, with the Turkish wonderkid expected to resume training with the team on Monday. As for Carvajal, he will undergo fresh scans tomorrow to determine the extent of his injury.
Atletico Madrid, too, have some injuries heading into the game, with young prospect Pablo Barrios among those set to be unavailable for the derby.
