Kylian Mbappe has once again become the hot topic in European football after recent reports that have revealed the player’s desire to leave Paris Saint-Germain in the winter transfer window.

Real Madrid, in particular, are among the clubs on red alert as the player himself favours a move to Santiago Bernabeu if he is allowed to leave the club.

It appears the Frenchman is unhappy with PSG as the club have failed to meet the promises that were made during the summer. That includes the signing of a number nine so that the forward could operate in his desired wide role.

Mbappe’s deteriorating relationship with star player Neymar is also among the reasons behind his desire to leave PSG in January.

However, interacting with the media for the first time since the rumours broke, PSG sporting director Luis Campos has plainly denied the rumours, suggesting he is yet to hold talks with Mbappe over any potential move away from Parc des Princes.

“Mbappé never spoke to me about this. I deny this info,” Campos said (h/t Olivier Tallaron). The sporting director made the announcement just before PSG’s game against SL Benfica in the UEFA Champions League.

Formerly of Celta Vigo, Campos was roped in as Paris Saint-Germain sporting director earlier in the summer. But as rumours have it, his presence has not had a positive impact on the team, including Mbappe. There are speculations that the Portuguese may even leave the club in the near future.

This would spell major disaster for PSG, who have enjoyed a decent start to the domestic campaign and are doing well in Europe as well. But with a lack of harmony within the squad, it appears the another UCL disappoint could be in offing.

Such an event would only fast-track Mbappe’s departure from Parc des Princes, although with PSG valuing the player at around €300-350 million, signing him would be a challenge even for the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City.

The Santiago Bernabeu is ready for the first time in a fortnight as Real Madrid are set to host relegation-threatened Real Valladolid for gameweek 27 of La Liga. The gap between them and Barcelona was increased to 15 yesternight, and los blancos will be looking to cut it down to 12 to scarce the tiniest bit of hope of defending their league crown.

Carlo Ancelotti has opted to use a highly attacking starting lineup for the clash, with Karim Benzema spearheading the front-three. He is flanked by Marco Asensio on the right while Vinicius Jr retains his place on the left.

Rodrygo also gets the nod to start, probably as an attacking midfielder in what looks like a 4-2-3-1.

Aurelien Tchouameni has been given the nod in midfield, with Toni Kroos forming the double pivot alongside him.

With Antonio Rudiger, Ferland Mendy, and Nacho out injured, Eduardo Camavinga gets the license to start as the left-back, while Lucas Vazquez flanks the defence from the right. The usual suspects — Eder Militao and David Alaba — start in central defence.

Thibaut Courtois was a doubt heading into this game, but has been given the medical greenlight to take his place as the goalkeeper.

Madrid XI: Courtois; Vazquez, Militao, Alaba, Camavinga; Tchouameni, Kroos; Asensio, Rodrygo, Vinicius; Benzema
