Nico Paz is one of the crown jewels in the Real Madrid academy, which has been able to produce multiple top talents in recent years.

An attacking midfielder by trade, Paz is a regular in first-team training and has even made his competitive debut for Los Blancos this season.

The youngster has also been a consistent performer for RM Castilla and is a regular in Argentina’s youth teams.

Borussia Dortmund & SL Benfica eye move for Paz

Nico Paz’s performances in the youth categories have not gone unnoticed either, with Borussia Dortmund and SL Benfica keen on his services.

That is the word coming from Mundo Deportivo, who suggests that European giants are eyeing a move for the Real Madrid whizkid at the end of the season.

Real Madrid have an excellent relationship with both teams. Dortmund, in particular, have a good harmony with club president Florentino Perez, with the two clubs notably agreeing a deal for Jude Bellingham last summer.

Real Madrid, therefore, are certainly open to loaning Nico Paz out for the coming summer. A loan move to SL Benfica is not ruled out either.

Does Paz have a future at the Bernabeu?

As mentioned earlier, Nico is a regular member of the first-team training sessions at Real Madrid. But truth be told, the youngster faces enormous competition at Santiago Bernabeu.

That is why the 19-year-old has only featured in 19 minutes of league action this term, falling behind the likes of Bellingham and Brahim Diaz in the pecking order.

Although reports suggest Nico will become a member of the first team next season, the chances could be few and far between.

A loan move to a club like Dortmund or Benfica, therefore, could prove to be ideal at this juncture of his career.

With both clubs known for their ability to nurture talents, they will be able to provide Paz with an ideal platform to showcase his talents at the highest level of football.

Just in: Real Madrid’s defensive target picks up fresh injury

Real Madrid are in active negotiations with LOSC Lille for the transfer of Leny Yoro. After weeks of impasse, the club appear to have made some ground in the race to sign the Frenchman.

However, should the Yoro deal fall through in the coming weeks, Real Madrid have identified Lazio’s Mario Gila as the ideal alternative.

Formerly of RM Castilla, Gila currently plies his trade for Lazio and has emerged as a key defensive lynchpin for the Italian outfit, impressing onlookers with his technique and discipline.

Mario Gila picks up fresh injury

However, in a major development, it appears Mario Gila has picked up a fresh injury during training, reports Diario AS.

In the pre-season camp at Auronzo di Cadore, Gila appears to have fractured his left foot and could be out for several weeks.

Lazio confirmed the defender’s injury, stating, “Mario Gila underwent clinical and instrumental examinations which revealed a fracture of the phalanx of the big toe of his left foot, suffered during training.”

Gila has started taking the appropriate treatment and the extent of his injury will be known soon. However, as things stand, the defender could be out for at least the next few weeks.

What does this mean for Real Madrid?

Mario Gila’s fresh injury setback is sure to dwindle any hopes of a potential return to Real Madrid this summer.

In any case, Gila’s chances of returning to Santiago Bernabeu were slim given that Real Madrid have finally made some ground in the deal to sign top defensive target Leny Yoro.

Los Blancos, though, would have liked having someone like Gila available as an alternative, especially with LOSC Lille still demanding a fortune for the Frenchman.

Unfortunately, that might not be an option anymore, no thanks to Gila’s injury. The club, though, will keep a close eye on the Spaniard’s injury situation, knowing he could return to fitness before the end of the summer break.
