Real Madrid accept Mbappe’s arrival this summer is impossible, have no Plan B

According to Jose Felix Diaz of MARCA, Real Madrid no longer hide the fact that signing Kylian Mbappe this summer is impossible. The Merengues believed until very recently that things would fall into place, but it now appears out of reach.
The PSG star prefers to see out his contract with the French side purely for monetary gain. Moreover, he does not want to miss out on the lucrative signing bonus he will receive from Real Madrid next season if he joins as a free agent.
From the club’s perspective, there is no plan B. Florentino Perez does not have any names to look out for as an alternative for the coming campaign, putting Carlo Ancelotti in a difficult situation.
After all, the French prodigy’s arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu was taken for granted at the club offices. Such was the conviction in him that Real Madrid aborted talks with other potential transfer targets, including Harry Kane.
Under normal circumstances, such overt news about the youngster’s move this summer falling apart would coerce the club to reactivate the paused negotiations.
However, that is unlikely now because Los Blancos continue to prioritise Mbappe for next summer, and see another big-money signing as a futile operation.
The one to face the brunt of it will be the manager. Ancelotti has not seen any of the promises he was made materialise. With no solid signings in the forward department, the 2023/24 season will be a tedious one for the Italian.
His only hope, it appears, is the bleak chance of a loan signing going through. Reports suggest that Los Blancos could look to loan Dusan Vlahovic for a season from Juventus, but it is safe to say that the Old Lady will be reluctant to send their best player on loan.

Real Madrid defender taken off with an injury against Las Palmas

There just does not appear to be any respite from injuries for Real Madrid.
Just when it appeared that they were close to having their full squad – barring the two long-term absentees – the Merengues have been struck down by fresh injuries this week.
Arda Guler, who was on the cusp of being named in the squad for the Las Palmas clash, injured himself in training on Tuesday.
And now, during the game against Las Palmas at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid have lost key defender David Alaba to an injury.
Close to the 40th-minute mark, Alaba went down on the ground clutching his leg and appeared to be in quite a bit of discomfort.
Soon enough, the medical staff arrived to take a look at the Austrian and seconds later he was off the pitch and straight towards the tunnel.
Lucas Vazquez came on to replace the injured Alaba, with Nacho Fernandez moving into the centre-back position alongside Antonio Rudiger.
Alaba’s injury leaves Carlo Ancelotti with just two fit centre-backs in Rudiger and Nacho, which is set to be a matter of great concern.
The hope will be that Alaba’s condition is nothing serious and that he is able to mount a quick recovery.
