A contract extension last month served as a major boost for Dani Ceballos, who always wanted to continue at Real Madrid and become a first-team regular.

But his aspirations took a major blow when the midfielder picked up an early injury, four days into the pre-season training. The player suffered a thigh injury, which has ruled him out for the majority of the pre-season preparations and the start of the new campaign.

Shortly after the injury was confirmed by Real Madrid, Ceballos issued a message to the fans, stating he is keen on making a comeback as soon as possible.

“It’s time to stop for a few days due to an untimely injury. I have been preparing myself before pre-season even started with great enthusiasm. Sometimes these things happen. Now it’s time to recover and return as soon as possible and stronger,” Ceballos wrote on his social media channels.

Missing out on pre-season could indeed be a blow for Ceballos, who was hoping to impress Carlo Ancelotti with his conviction and work ethic.

After all, the Spaniard’s bid to become a first-team regular at Real Madrid has been made considerably more difficult by the club’s recent acquisitions of Jude Bellingham and Arda Guler.

On top of that, Real Madrid have managed to retain the services of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, at least for another year. This should greatly impact Ceballos’ role in the team going into the new season.

And now, with the former Real Betis starlet suffering a thigh injury, his chances of breaking into the side dissipate even further.

But with Ceballos vowing to return as soon as possible, it will be interesting to see how he recovers from the injury, with it being reported that the midfielder could be out for around six weeks.

Aurelien Tchouameni has had an exciting start to his career at Real Madrid. Since joining the club for almost €80 million last summer, the young Frenchman has now become a pivotal figure in Real Madrid’s midfield unit.

However, prior to his move to Santiago Bernabeu, the midfielder was closely linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

In a recent interview, Tchouameni opened up on his links to PSG but revealed his decision to join Real Madrid.

Talking about speculations linking him to PSG, Tchouameni said (h/t Madrid Zone), “PSG? Frankly, I thought about it. It’s a very big European club, we want the French clubs to succeed.”

“But honestly, when Real Madrid calls you, it’s very complicated to say no,” Tchouameni added.

The midfielder was linked with a move to PSG during his time at AS Monaco. Les Parisiens wanted to sign the youngster as part of their plans to reinforce the midfield unit.

Tchouameni, though, ended up opting for a move to Real Madrid, which turned out to be a prudent decision from the midfielder’s end.

Tchouameni’s career at Real Madrid

Aurelien Tchouameni made a total of 50 competitive appearances during his maiden season at Real Madrid.

Although the Frenchman was not entirely a first-team regular in Carlo Ancelotti’s setup, his stature in the team is expected to grow in the coming years.

Especially as Toni Kroos and Luka Modric move on at the end of the season, there is scope for Tchouameni to become a first-team regular in the Real Madrid midfield in the years to come.

The former AS Monaco starlet has already played a crucial role in the starting eleven so far this season and it is only going to continue as the season progresses.
