Brazil, widely tipped as one of the favourites to win the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar, have been hit by injuries since the start of the tournament.

Star main Neymar was injured in the opener against Serbia while Danilo also hurt his ankle and missed the last two matches. Alex Sandro also picked up a knock ahead of the Round of 16 stages.

Now, as per the latest update from MARCA, Selecao have been rocked by two more injuries in the camp as Gabriel Jesus and Alex Telles have been ruled out of the remainder of the World Cup.

Jesus started for Brazil in their last group game against Cameroon yesterday and played for a little more than an hour. However, he left with a back discomfort and it has now been confirmed that he will need at least three weeks to recover.

Jesus’ exit from the World Cup, coupled with Neymar’s own injury problem, opens the door for Real Madrid forward Rodrygo to gain greater prominence in the Brazil roster for the remainder of the tournament, reports MARCA.

Rodrygo made substitute appearances in the first two matches against Serbia and Switzerland before starting against Cameroon last night. The 21-year-old was a bright spot for Tite’s side in the defeat to the African nation.

The Real Madrid youngster has given a good account of himself in each of his three appearances in Qatar so far. And, given the mounting injury worries in the squad, Tite could now rely even more on the former Santos wonderkid.

Apart from Rodrygo, the Brazil manager also has the likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Antony and Pedro as options in the attacking unit, who could pair up alongside Richarlison and Vinicius Jr, who are permanent fixtures in the frontline.

Having topped Group G, Brazil will take on Group H runners-up South Korea in the Round of 16 of the World Cup, with the game set to be played on Monday night.

Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia dreams of playing for Spanish giants Real Madrid, the winger’s father has revealed following the UEFA Champions League clash between the two teams last night.

Kvaratskhelia, 22, exploded upon arriving at Napoli last year, leading them to the Serie A title on the back of his explosive performances.

The Georgian winger has been impressing in the ongoing campaign as well, although he failed to score or assist in either of Napoli’s meetings with Real Madrid in the Champions League group stages.

Kvaratskhelia has previously spoken about how he has always been a lifelong supporter of Real Madrid and grew up idolising some of the club’s legends like Cristiano Ronaldo and Guti, among others.

Now, the 22-year-old winger’s father has revealed that his son has always dreamt of and continues to dream of playing for Real Madrid.

As quoted by Fabrizio Romano, Kvaratskhelia’s father said: “Khvicha always dreamed and still dreams of playing for Real Madrid. I am sure about it.”

Talking about the fact that the winger got to play against Real Madrid, Kvaratskhelia’s father added: “For Khvicha, playing vs Real Madrid was special. In my family, everyone is a Real Madrid supporter, except me.”

Real Madrid are in the market for attacking reinforcements, but they are looking for a centre-forward next summer and have Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland as their main targets.

As for Kvaratskhelia, whose market value stands at €85 million, it seems quite apparent that he harbours dreams of playing for Real Madrid. But it remains to be seen if there is some interest from Los Blancos in signing the winger.
