The imminent July showdown

The clock is ticking heavily against the Spanish capital giants. Vinicius’ current deal at the Santiago Bernabeu runs until June 2027, meaning he has officially entered the final 12 months of his contract.

To avoid the catastrophic scenario of the winger opening pre-contract talks with foreign suitors as a free agent on 1 January, Real Madrid executives have scheduled a high-stakes, face-to-face meeting with the player’s entourage for late July.

This upcoming summit carries immense institutional urgency, as senior leadership looks to completely untangle the knot before the new domestic campaign gathers full momentum.

The financial impasse

The deadlock centres entirely on the financial architecture of the proposed long-term contract.

Vinicius, who is currently away on holiday following Brazil’s World Cup exit against Norway, currently earns a net annual salary of roughly €17 million.

Real Madrid’s senior management have offered to bump those terms up to a fixed €20 million per season. However, the player’s representatives have firmly knocked back the proposal.

Vinicius’ camp is demanding complete financial parity with the squad’s top earner, Kylian Mbappe, holding out for a package valued closer to €30 million annually alongside a substantial, unprecedented renewal bonus.
