While Real Madrid’s main aim for the summer of 2024 appears to be Kylian Mbappe, the Spanish heavyweights will be on the lookout to strengthen a few more key areas in the squad.

For starters, Alphonso Davies of Bayern Munich remains a priority target for Los Merengues to reinforce the left-back slot.

Beyond that, Real Madrid could also sign a new centre-back in the summer to ensure that they are not in a situation similar to the current one where they have are left with only two senior central defenders in Antonio Rudiger and Nacho, owing to injuries.

Leny Yoro a target for Real Madrid

LOSC Lille’s teenage breakout star Leny Yoro has emerged as a key target for Real Madrid for the summer transfer window.

However, as reported by journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Los Blancos will face competition from the likes of PSG, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich for the young defender.

Despite being just 18 years old, Yoro has already featured in 39 first-team games for Lille, even scoring three goals in the process.

A young talent with immense promise, Yoro fits the recruitment profile at Real Madrid, with the club even seeing him potentially as a ‘new Raphael Varane’.

Competition aplenty

However, as mentioned earlier, Manchester United, PSG, and Bayern Munich are all interested in Yoro, while Lille themselves are trying to tie him down to a new contract.

PSG have been trying to sign him in the winter itself, but Lille have no intentions of letting him leave. And while they are looking to offer him a new deal, Yoro does not seem to be leaning towards a renewal.

Real Madrid, Man United, and Bayern have all made enquiries for Yoro while PSG remain ardent suitors as well. So, it remains to be seen how things pan out in the future.

Real Madrid are just days away from their highly anticipated Champions League final showdown against Borussia Dortmund.

Once the final has been played, planning for the summer transfer window will be in full swing, with the topic of arrivals and departures likely to be discussed.

One of the players facing an uncertain future is Nacho Fernandez. The Real Madrid captain has yet to disclose his future ambitions, despite nearing the end of his contract.

Nacho opens up about future

While he previously claimed that he had already made his decision, a shift in tone can be observed now, with Nacho asserting that he will soon sit with the club and his family to evaluate the best course of action

For now, the 34-year-old remains focused on the Champions League final and does not wish to draw any unnecessary attention.

“Future? The focus is on the final now. After that, I will sit with the club, Ancelotti and my family and I’ll decide what’s the best thing for me,” he told El Chiringuito.

Fernandez acknowledges the fans’ support

Additionally, the veteran centre-back claimed that he does need a grand farewell to know how much the Madrid faithful appreciate him.

“That love the fans have for Toni is the same they have for me. I don’t need a farewell to know the fans love me,” he reflected.

Nacho has devoted his entire career to Real Madrid, rising through the ranks from the youth academy and spending over two decades with the Merengues.

However, he has alluded to the possibility of perhaps donning the colours of a different jersey.

“Sometimes the circumstances are not right to be a ‘one club man’,” he cryptically claimed.
